Digicel to bring new episode of Game of Thrones to Jazz n’ Creole

Tyrella Alexander is the Marketing Executive at Digicel Dominica

In its quest to satisfy its customers and fans of the popular television series Game of Thrones, Digicel Dominica will bring the new episode of the final season to the 10th annual Jazz n’ Creole.

Marketing Executive at Digicel Dominica, Tyrella Alexander made the announcement at the final Jazz n’ Creole press conference held at the Prevo Cinemall on Wednesday.

The event will take place at Fort Shirley Cabrits National Park, Portsmouth on Sunday [May 5].

“We realized that a number of our customers, a number of the patrons of Jazz n’ Creole are also fanatics of the much-talked-about ‘Game of Thrones’ which is featured on HBO, so this time around we want to add something extra,” she said. “We want to ensure that those fans can get to see the next episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ while at the Jazz n’ Creole”

According to Alexander a number of fans have been informing about the series, trying to figure out how they can balance both.

“They have been asking about it and you know trying to think how they can balance both, enjoying the great songs of Jazz n’ Creole, the soothing music and at the same time being able to catch up on the next episode of their favourite Game of Thrones,” Alexander stated.

She explained that two screens will be erected upstairs the officer’s quarters to facilitate the fans.

“We will ensure that they will be able to view the episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ live at the Jazz ‘n Creole,” she stated.

She continued, “Right after you get your doses of jazz and you are enjoying the music then you can come upstairs to the officer’s quarters and watch the ‘Game of Thrones’ live.”

Moreover she said as a full entertainment provider it’s only fitting that the company support causes like this, “especially in this case the Jazz n’ Creole.”

“Our contribution this year will ensure that the team is equipped to facilitate its streaming and other elements of its products at the Jazz n’ Creole’ through seamless internet connectivity, of course we want to help them ensure that they are able to  reach their intended audience and ensure that the event reaches all success,” Alexander explained.

She commended the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) for the staging of the event this year.

Well this “number of fans” must be very VIP to be able to dictate to DDA but they nothing but Filistines. Money can buy bling but not class.

Digicel I see that you are really trying hard and making an effort to please your patrons, customers and potential customers who may want to join your network. I am a GOT fan, I sometime miss an episode or I may want to rewatch an episode and I simply go online and I “UPLOAD” the last episode on my computer/Smartphone. Now adays the in thing is the “Android Box” or the “Amazon Fire Stick” where owners can simply get infinite TV shows and movies from infinite sources including GOT for free without any hassle about “Missing out an Episode”. Although I am trying to be balance here, I will however echo the same sentiment as others persons on this forum, “DON’T MIX OUR LOCAL CULTURE WITH THAT ‘CINEMA/MOVIE’ CRAP…PLEASE!!!! GOT featuring (even if in a private area) at that event is actually insulting the performing artists.

Lol they really cyah please allu eh, I certainly had the episode on my mind and how I was gonna watch it if I was at jazz… This is a GREAT idea, watching it with tons of people is that much more epic (hence watch parties being a thing) the show starts at 9, jazz would be a good bit done by then.. Yall needa chill in these comments, always there to criticize any attempt to please the masses 🙄

We appreciate Digicel’s commitment to Dominica and the support that they have given to Dominica in culture, sports, telecommunications. We also note that a lot of this is based on the idea that these are all good for business…Digicel is by no way a benevolent society, at the end of the day the bottom line is what matters to them!!

But at the same time, Digicel need not be so insensitive to an event like Jazz n’ Creole and introduce an “imported canned” product into the event. Is it that we are saying that our people are not capable of staying away from the TV screen and focus on enjoying a local event, spend time socializing in the ambiance of the Cabrits etc., etc.; resisting the temptation of American television?

Digicel has a big fist {we all know} but the folks at Discover Dominica need to ask the company to reconsider this one; this is not good for local culture.

I am really disgusted by this.
If you like your Game of Thrones so much just leave for home early or go and find a bar in Portsmouth. It reminds me of those women in the 1970s who would go outside of church with their radios to catch the soaps on DBS radio during church service.! No wonder Dominicans have no class.!

Nonsense you’ll talking. Jazz and creole to promote our culture and upstairs have a TV playing “white man” show?
Why not a show on the origins of Jazz and jazz music? This is 2019, no one is going to stay home and think i staying home cause I need to see game of thrones, you can literally see the show any where and any time.
Game of Thrones of part of DDA marketing now? I guess we gonna see a Dragon on the flyer and a dragon above the cruise ship berth soon.
    Stop that non sense.
You don’t go to a Gospel concert and say how you going to see Cardi B, You don’t go to a jazz and creole fest and wonder how you going to see Game of thrones.

Showing Game of Thrones at our Jazz & Creole Festival shows a lack of respect for our culture and the efforts of all those who worked so hard to on Jazz & Creole. What Digicel needs to do is provide a recording device to their customers so that they can record and watch their shows at their own convenience.

Very dumb idea, if you ask me. Patrons will leave their home, spend money to listen to jazz performances all the way in Portsmouth, while at the same time spending time with their friends and family. Why would anyone want to move away from the event to the “two screens will be erected upstairs the officer’s quarters” to watch a TV show. no matter how much you love GOT, I don’t see the benefit to the promotion of Jazz and the people to look forward to the event once per year. Very disrespectful people, very disrespectful. :( :(

Who has the BALLS to tell Digicel to stop that crap? Our consciousness has gone to the dogs.
Creole Jazz or Jazz Creole and Digicel wants to bring in big screen to show Game of Thrones? And no one in authority can tell them no thanks? But sadly the stupid people will enjoy it! Dominicans are quickly becoming the most stupid and gullible in the world.

Its all about the money. This has become just about getting into the pockets and not about jazz and creole lovers.

Why are we tainting our culture with foreign stuff. How does this become part of our DOMINICA. No wonder we have to infuse something alien to our productions to make it acceptable. It’s the same way we think that a Reggae artist needs to be in Creole festival.

Why is Digicel seeking to take away the patrons from the Jazz performers? They are there to perform for the audience. The festival is an opportunity for the Jazz performers to build their fan base. Showing the Games of Throne at the same time undermines the Jazz showcase and the artists. Play the movie some other time.

Actually, GOT (Game of Thrones) airs at 9pm. It was stated that the concert will be over by then. However, as a fan, i cannot enjoy the show in the presense of posers and non fans. Real fans know they rather watch in peace and quiet by themselves or just around their select friends who appreciate things like NO excessive talking, asking “dumb” questions about the show, or anything that can distract your from the most minute detail about the show). Nah i definitely wont be at jazz already. even worse if they decide to show my favorite show there. Disrespectful in my opinion. Nothing seems to be sacred anymore. thats like putting pineapples on pizza. Some things are just wrong. i’ll be home. thank you.
