The Digital Innovation Grant, an initiative aimed at empowering entrepreneurs to propel their businesses into the digital age, fostering innovation, resilience, and sustainability was officially launched on Monday. The grant is made possible through the generous support of the Caribbean Digital Transformation project.
As part of the launch, a user-friendly website has been unveiled to streamline the application process and provide comprehensive details on accessing the grant. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to explore the website for all necessary information.
“Today we are happy to launch the Digital Innovation Grant…,” Minister of Public Works, Utilities, and the Digital Economy Fidel Grant said while addressing the ceremony held at the Prevo Cinemall conference room. “The government is providing the opportunity for individuals and small businesses to receive a grant of up to $40,000 in funding to explore digital technologies and tap into and access new markets.”
He mentioned also that the grant will introduce products and services and develop new cost-effective ways in its operations.
“Under this program, successful business owners can qualify for a maximum of $40,000 to invest in IT-related equipment, such as printers, computers, scanners, point of sale systems just to name a few,” Grant stated.
He continued, “This grant targets small business owners who wish to develop an e-commerce website, conduct market research. To restaurants, shops, and spas we need to be able to locate you through Google Maps.”
Grant added, “We also need to pay for your goods and services online. Through this grant, you can now engage a specialized technician, a consultant, or service provider to enhance your online presence.”
Furthermore, he pointed out that small businesses that qualify can utilize the grant to upgrade or purchase software licenses such as QuickBooks, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Sweep among others.
Grant made a special appeal to small business owners to explore building Apps that can enhance delivery of their service.
To qualify for the program the applicant must be over 18 years old, a Dominican national, and registered with the Inland Revenue Department and Social Security.
I will not say much, than I commented in the past regarding Fidel nonsensical crap; nevertheless, I hate to say it, but this guy is practically ignorant; he does not have any concept of the rubbish he spews; and so I will allow the audience to decide if he is simply another moron in the the cabal scheme of cynical, devious deceptions.
It is important to note; that technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry’s!
By the same token: Digital innovation is the process of utilization of digital technologies and strategies to create new or improved products, services, processes, and business models.
It involves leveraging digital tools and platforms to drive transformation, to enhance customer experiences, and generate value. Boy you need to shut-up okay, if you want give some money to your supporters for Christmas, go ahead and do so, but I thinking you are making a complete fool of yourself; you actually look stupid!
Get vendors out of the streets and sidewalks! Give them a suitable venue so pedestrians could be free to walk in Roseau without having to keep jumping over gutters and risking their lives walking in and out of the sidewalks. It’s a disgrace.
As a painter and sculptor, my materials and techniques date back to the time of Michelangelo, the exception being that my work is available via the internet.
In the 1990’s I launched an online diary page of work in progress that can claim to be the forerunner of blogs. It became recommended viewing for schools and colleges throughout the UK and continues from my studio at Antrim. The site is now accessed by art students and artists worldwide and can be found at: https://sculpturestudiodominica.blogspot.com/
More recently, I have made my books available online as eBooks. They can be viewed at: https://www.studiopublications.org/
All the above has been done on a shoestring. My computer is a reconditioned desktop that I purchased for $300. The only recurring expense is my broadband connection. Acquiring the necessary computer skills has been a steep learning curve (I’m 80 and dyslexic) but the guidance I need is freely available online. Hence, grants are not essential.
“Hence, grants are not essential.” Speak for yourself!
You have materials, a “reconditioned computer,” Internet access, “$300.00,” and who knows what else. These did not simply fall from the sky. You needed money to purchase whatever you now have. Some artists and entrepreneurs need the help to startup so that one day they can be like you and claim success using materials, digital technology, etc.
I’m trying to understand what you’re saying. A grant is not essential to you? or not essential to others. If you’re saying a grant is not essential to you…then that’s fine. If you’re saying grants are not essential to others…I disagree. Your business allowed you to get by with almost no overhead. You cant compare your business to every other business / business idea that someone may have.
To clarify:
There has developed a mindset that considers grants, bank loans and government assistance a necessity, whereas they can be an hindrance, rather than a spur to initiatives.
What is the site to apply?
That is the same foolishness with supporters of UWP,lazy like rats.Man open a damn business create employment.Everthing government must do.The Chinese have stores all over Roseau, employing a large number of Dominicans. All you do is get drunk, get high, gossip and complaine all day.You sold your land to the Haitians, because you are too damn lazy to work.If Fidel does not create employment for you,you will not work?Lazy piece of Sh – -.
This is great news! Another opportunity for local entrepreneurs to maximize the potential and increase earnings.
People like you are neither here nor there; you do not even have a clue of the crap Fidel is talking; how many manufacturing industries Grant has in Dominica? What scientific knowledge regarding industries do Roosevelt and Fidel has to offer the world.
What are you shipping out of Dominica to where that warrants this:
“It involves leveraging digital tools and platforms to drive transformation, to enhance customer experiences, and generate value.”
Not even in Dominica this has any relevance: “enhance customer experiences, and generate value.”
So- called Putin, is not every nonsense people like Fidel spew you should believe is something good; it’s all BS!
Propaganda to fool the unsuspecting like you, Roosevelt send him to the Middle East, so that he could have got a large piece of the pie in cash when they travel and do not return any change, so he return talking this BS, meanwhile he sits on his behind and allow Roosevelt to give our Village Wesley to the Chines!
digital….business……places closing down. …too much talk….get people to work create employment….
