Gregory “Karessah” Riviere is expected to make history for the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) by winning the Marigot Constituency at the next general election. That’s what DLP General Secretary, Edward Registe said at a news conference on Friday.
However, it appears that Riviere couldn’t wait until polling day to accomplish that feat. He did what no other general election candidate has done in Dominica’s recent political history, when he personally disrupted a meeting of his opponent, United Workers Party leader, Lennox Linton, in Marigot on Friday night.
Riviere interrupted the UWP meeting when he approached Linton, during his address, demanding to speak.
Linton was at the time, speaking about allegations that the DLP was paying money to candidates to “step up” and “step down”.
“I hear that it has reached somewhere in the region of $15 million dollars that they are paying candidates in the Labour Party to step up and step down. Whose money is that? Your money,” Linton stated. “The candidates who are stepping up around the country, they are not telling people in these communities how much they getting but you are supposed to vote for them, for getting money – millions of dollars – from the Labour Party, to run.”
Linton went on to say, “…Anybody running for the Labour Party ticket in Marigot must tell the people of Marigot how much you get because if $15 million dollars sharing among candidates, I am sure to God; I am sure to God; that reverend, people…”
It was at that point that Riviere walked up to Linton and interrupted his presentation demanding, “Let me tell the people of Marigot, how much I get.” He was subsequently ushered out of the area.
Riviere’s launch as the DLP candidate has been announced for Sunday August 18, 2019 at the Marigot Fisheries where he will have the opportunity to provide the answer which he sought to give at the UWP public meeting on Friday.

The more I read about Karessa the more I am concerned about the safety of Dominica, under Skerrit. Dno, the heading of this article is very misleading and untrue. I am sure you heard as everyone else did.
The DLP candidate did not disrupt Lennox’s meeting as you are saying.
As usual, Lennox was lying to his audience telling them of some $15,000,000.00 the DLP was disbursing to it’s candidates for the up coming election. He(Lennox) told his supporters to ask the DLP candidate(Riviere), going up in the Margot constituency about that and how much he (Riviere) got out of the $15,000,000.00. package.
Riviere, who was at the meeting and heard the question went to answer Lennox’s question right on the spot by asking he Lennox to allow him to answer the question he posed to him in front his audience and supporters.
By no means Riviere went to disrupt Lennox’s meeting.
Riviere only went to ask Lennox permission to answer the question Lennox Linton asked of him(RIVIERE). So to say Riviere went and disrupt Lennox’s meeting is very misleading and untrue.

However, it is highly irregular,we are actually unaware of any other instance, where a rival politician interrupted his opponent’s political meeting in the manner Riviere did.

It is highly irregular for a politician to act like Riviere did. But Linton behavior has never been regular or professional.
From being expelled,to May 29, 1979 , from being deported and being sue, from his 14 day demand for the government to quit to the invasion in Guyana….. I have compiled a whole dossier on Hon Linton and Francis bad behavior so if you need more on this misbehavior let me know. I am checking with my lawyer to ensure that I do not get sued because when the campaign starts in earnest all hell will break loose.
Riviere ‘s action, though irregular sent the right message that Linton must be held accountable for his lying tongue again.

DNO since you think that Karesssah behavior was highly unusual don’t you think lennox’s behavior is highly unusual also. For a politician to be fixated on money and make blanket statements without any proof. This is highly unusual to me and many of us. Last week it was 2 billion this week is millions. This is crazy, irresponsible and extremely unusual behavior.
I do not understand this. He tell people to ask the guy how much money he got when the guy come to answer the question then people are mad. He cannot have it his way all the time. There is clearly something wrong with this picture. Why not give the man the mike let him tell people how much money he receive or did not receive. Linton is karessah representative and Karessah had every right to attend a public meeting. Like the 2 million this story will be debunked and next week it will be more missing money.
