Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate for the Salisbury constituency, Lynsia Frank has accused outgoing Parliamentary Representative Hector John of using the people of that constituency.
Hector John has been the Parliamentary Representative of that constituency for the past 13 years under the leading opposition United Workers Party (UWP). The Salisbury constituency is also seen as a stronghold of the UWP.
In a statement issued by the DLP on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, the party announced the cancellation of its launching of Frank, which was scheduled on the said date at the Salisbury Playing Field, due to concerns for the safety of Dominicans who would attend the rally to show support to Frank.
The statement leveraged claims that over the past days and specifically in the last 12 hours, several reports of threats have been made to the DLP supporters. The DLP statement also claimed that the party received information that some elements of the UWP, were aided and abetted by John.
The DLP, therefore, shifted its meeting to Vieille Case that evening.
However, the UWP refutes claims of being responsible for the cancellation of the DLP Salisbury campaign event
In a statement released by the UWP on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, the opposition party said this is a desperate attempt by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and the party that he leads to fool international election observers into believing that the main opposition party is interfering with his “highly toxic campaign of lies, deception, and propaganda” ahead of the December 6 elections.
“I am here tonight because I am tired, I am tired of watching the people of my constituency for 13 years get used by the outgoing Parl Rep,” Frank argued while addressing supporters at her launching at Vieille Case.
She continued, “Hector John can come and drive in my yard again, like he did today [Tuesday], but you are not going to intimidate me. That will not work.”
Furthermore, she questioned John’s representation in the Salisbury Constituency.
“Brothers and sisters, is this the kind of Dominica that you want? Where we cannot come and show support to our next Parl Rep?” Frank asked. “Do we really want to live in a country that is run by people who think that the only way to represent us is by inciting violence?”
She went on to ask, “My people, aren’t you tired of being in a constituency with a Parl Rep that has done not anything for 13 years?”
Frank added, “I want you to remember before this election I want you to remember I was a constituent too, so I know just like me you have to be tired of Hector John. You have to be tired of him dividing this constituency.”
She argued that for 13 years Hector John has abused the opportunity to represent the good people of Salisbury.
Skerrit the young lady you have fronting for you in Salisbury she is talking, she is regreting the mistake she made by lying on Hector Spags John, every body in that constituency is asking her, why did you do that she just can not answering. Lynsia Frank is the spineless, low calibre kind of candidate that Roosevelt recruits so he can easily manipulate.
Instead of revealing her plans to combat the rapidly increasing cost of living; to promote job creation; to mend the political division; just like her idol, she uses vicious ad hominem attacks on a patriot.
Can any of her frivolous utterances put food on the table or money in your pocket? Do these outrageous, lying accusations help to pay the utility bills? Can they help to purchase uniforms for your child(ren)?
For her unwarranted, personal attacks on Hector John, Lynsia Frank has proven herself to be nothing more than a balloon filled with polluted air.
