Dominica among the 30 least populated countries on earth

Dominica has been listed among the 30 least populated on earth by a study published in the online newspaper 24/7 Wall Street. The study used data from the World Bank as of 2022, which it says is the latest available data, and it included population distribution, gross domestic product, GDP per capita, and total fertility rates — or the average number of children women have in their lifetime.

“The global population has been on a steady, upward trajectory for decades,” the study said. “According to the latest data from the World Bank, the number of people on the planet has doubled since the mid-1970s. As of 2022, there were nearly 8 billion people worldwide — and the bulk of them are concentrated in just a handful of the world’s 195 countries. The 10 most populous countries alone — a group that includes China, India, and the United States — account for over half of the global population. In stark contrast, the 30 least populous countries are home to only 6.3 million people collectively, roughly equal to the population of the state of Missouri.”

The least populated countries on earth have population ranging from 617,000, to fewer than 15,000. “The countries on this list span five continents, and most are geographically small island nations,” the study said.

According to the study, Tuvalu is the least populated country on earth with a population of 11,312. Located in the South Pacific, Tuvalu is an independent nation within the British Commonwealth. The country is on the list of islands that are most likely to disappear into the ocean in the near future due to rising sea levels.

Nauru is number two with a population of 12,668, while Palau is third with 18,055. Dominica is the ninth country on the list with a population of 72,737 as of 2022. According to data, 71.7 percent of the population lives in urban areas while 28.3 percent in rural areas. Dominica is not the only Caribbean country on the list. St. Kitts with a population of 47,657 is listed at number eight, Antigua and Barbuda is at number 11 with 93,763, St Vincent and the Grenadines at number 12 with 103,948, Grenada at number 16 with 125,438, St Lucia at number 18 with 179,857, Barbados at number 21 with 281,635 and The Bahamas at 25 with 409,984.

The study stated that with small populations, these countries on the list generally do not have a meaningful impact on global economic output.

“None have a Gross Domestic Product that exceeds $30 billion, and a dozen have a GDP of less than $1 billion,” it said. “For context, Vermont’s GDP, the smallest of any U.S. state, is $43.1 billion.”

However, it pointed out that despite the small population size, many countries on the list are “relatively wealthy, generating more economic output on a per person basis than much of the rest of the world.”

“In 14 of the least populous countries, GDP per capita exceeds comparable global output of $12,688 per person — and in two of these countries, GDP per capita is well above the $76,330 per capita GDP in the United States,” it said.

UWP,the media whore and their handful of lying acolytes said on the media whore radio station, the population of Dominica,60,000.The minimum wage was raised from $4.50 to $7.50 on September 1st 2021.So it mean therefore no body employed in Dominica is being paid less that $1,200 for a 160 hour month,or $600 every two weeks or $300 a week excluding Saturdays and Sundays. So when the blues are talking about unemployment and poverty that is just pit toilet talk.Right now there are more than 42,000 registered vehicles on the island of Dominica.

All you just putting any number popping in all you head? All you claim a census was done, but After Maria Dominicans left in droves without return . Annually young people do the same after they finish sificol or high school. But all you swear!!! we have over 70,000. I say is 55,000 is all that. The place doesnt have people. And imagine that unemployment still high in the country. DO A PROPER CENSUS!! Last time somebody come and ask me about census i was still in high school UWP that was in power. Them man does say they doing census but nobody ever coming to your home or even calling your phone to ask you no question. How they know how many people living in my home? How many is female how many is male, their ages or educational level. Made up numbers. Falsified numbers. 72,000 my arse. Maybe they counting all those Chinese living in the Chinese embassy and on those construction sites as Dominicans.

Why does the bay front road look like that China was said to have fixed all the roads, that road needs re-surfacing. It is the first road cruise ship tourists see.

Within the next fifty years the smaller Caribbean islands will enjoy a larger tourist population than the local population on a daily basis, as migration shall result in a few remaining on island to serve the tourism industry while the majority migrate in search of greener pastures. And this is where current government policy that overindulge in a servitude tourism industry is taking most smaller Caribbean islands in a neo-slavery tourism plantation project!
