It’s another hot day in Dominica and the residents of the Dominica Infirmary once again have good reason to be grateful to their regular benefactor, Stephanie James, who has donated seventeen (17) fans to the institution.
“Living on an island that has a tropical climate has its benefits, as well as its disadvantages. Although there are not constant changes in the seasons, there is no doubt that the temperature increases especially during the summer months, ” James, who resides in New York City, stated. “I have taken the aforementioned into consideration, and decided to make a donation of 17 fans to the Dominica Infirmary.”
She added, “I know how hot it gets in Dominica during the summer months, so it is the very least that I could do to help the elderly who are currently residing at the Dominica infirmary. A little cool breeze on a very hot day can let the elderly feel so much more comfortable and relaxed.”
There can be no doubt that the residents of the Dominica Infirmary who are currently benefitting from the use of those fans, agree with that sentiment.
James, who has made a number of donations to the Infirmary, including a television set and other much needed supplies, is appealing to the public to reach out to the Director of the Dominica Infirmary to inquire about ways that they can contribute to the Infirmary.
“Every donation , big or small, goes a very long way,” she pointed out.
We have neither Summer, winter or fall/Autumn; it’s a Tropical Island with rain and sun.
Mostly, all the comments that are made are just hog wash. Some of us Dominicans do not appreciate little things (just say thank you). If you have nothing to contribute or something that makes sense to say, just shut up. Everything good or bad is too political, and that makes us obsessed and grumpy.
Why not portable AC Units? We know how hot it can be and we’re celebrating the donation of fans, while Skerrit takes his rum drinking show to Antigua, New York, St. Croix etc.
so here we have someone spewing garbage which makes no sense! –Telemaque
Man, you are a very sick person, you know.
What is the garbage that the lady is spewing? It is factual in Dominica, that the months of June, July and Augusts are the hottest months of the year.
Around November, December, last year, there were so many of my friends on facebook talking about how cold it was –including the people of Giraudel
I don’t know about you, but I am from Dominica and I know that there are months which are unbearably hot, those months are in the middle of the year, those are summer months in Canada, and there are months which are unbearable cold; cold enough to wear a warm sweater; those are the months when we have winter in Canada.
Why don’t you apply for a teaching job, since you are always trying to teach people? But you will have to leave that stuff from your balled head, and do research to know the facts. Or else you will get fired.
How many times I have to tell you to shut up!
It’s not the Fans; that makes their comment nonsensical, is the “summer” they emphasized!
Seventy degrees is Ambient; hence in the Caribbean normal temperatures range from 74 to 90 degree, plus or minus.
Anybody with an elementary education should know Dominica and the rest of the region North and South, are in the tropics, Dominica is a tropical island, so how can someone link heat in Dominica to summer heat.
Yes there are four season all over the world; nevertheless, one cannot suggests winter, spring, summer and fall in a place like Dominica, or the Caribbean!
I am surprise; am shocked, disappointed that your friend the triple doctor Punjab Duquesne HIFU did not send a boat to take you to Antigua to clap for him; and say “Antigua nice man.
Hahahahahahahahahahahah!
My comments are intellectual okay; what I conveyed is what I learn in college when I took the discipline “Physical Geography Today: A Portrait…
Fantastic donation, & very thoughtful especially at this time. Indeed, we are our brother’s & sister’s keeper in Jesus’ Name! Blessings to the benefactor… & Let us All continue to support our Wonderful Church founded Institutions on our lovely Nature Isle!
I’d like and wish to thank Miss James for her invaluable contribution of which is meant well and in good faith. Having said this; in this day and age,one would think that the one-man rogue regime prime mistake with his so-called love for the elderly, make it possible for this home to either have ceiling fans if not air conditioned Fans does not necessarily generate cool air, especially these type, but rather blow whatever air of the temperature at the time The one-man rogue regime prime mistake together with his wife for benefits(gucci mel)could have spent thousands of dollars to host Sinach, even taking her to this same home for the elderly, but refused to give them the everyday comfort of their golden years Anyway, I want to once again thank Stephanie James for her kind hearted gesture.
I go the infirmary each week. The fans are a great addition to the fans they already have,.. just adding that during the day they open the window louvers (sp.) and the doors to the wards… the wards get lots of air … always nice breeze when I visit.
Wow .. you are blessed
Then Dominica has summer all year round: so here we have someone spewing garbage which makes no sense!
“Summer” is a noun, it’s the season between spring and autumn in the Northern Hemisphere from the summer solstice to the autumnal equinox, in the Southern Hemisphere, from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox.
Summer is the period comprising the months of June, July, and August in America, and Canada.
In England summer is between the months of May and August!
Now Dominica is in the tropics where weather, temperatures ranges from between 76, and 90 degrees with humidity year round.
Since seventy six degrees are considered summer heat, then we must have year round summer in Dominica and the rest of the Caribbean!
Right now it’s 85 degrees in my living room, not time yet for the AC; that is because there is no humidity, we are dealing with dry heat!
When temperature is 76 degrees at home the humidity far exceeds that causing lots of respiration!
