Dominica Institute for the arts ends 1st year of operations

Dominica_Arts_Institute-300x225The closing ceremony marking the end of the first year of operations of the Dominica Institute for the Arts, will be held on Thursday May 30th 2013 at the Arawak House of Culture starting at 5 p.m. The event forms part of the 2013 DOMFESTA activities.

The Dominica Institute for the Arts is a project of the Cultural Division and the National Cultural Council and it is based at the Old Mill Cultural Centre.

So far two semesters of training in the arts were held at the Institute from September to November 2012 and also from January to April 2013.

A total of 107 students completed courses in the first semester while 100 students completed courses in the second semester.

In the meantime the Institute has announced that persons interested in registering for the first semester in the new academic year can register at the Old Mill Cultural Centre from June 3rd 2013.  Training courses for the new academic year will commence on September 9th 2013. Various courses are being offered in music, art, drama and dance. Courses comprise one class a week over a period of 12 to 36 weeks at a fee of $50 a month.

    That is good. I have a young daughter and I see tremendous opportunities to keep her educated and well rounded right here in Dominica.
