Dominica police force to recruit more female officers

Commonwealth of Dominica police recruits

A top priority of officials the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force is to increase the number of female police officers currently enrolled in the service and to encourage the promotion of women in the force.

Cabinet has decided to move the establishment of the police force from 500 to 600 and according to Acting Chief of Police Lincoln Corbette, they’re currently in the screening process to train an additional  50 officers.

This information was given at a recent press conference which was held by the Ministry of National Security, Justice and Home Affairs.

Minister Rayburn Blackmoore also spoke at the press conference and insisted that he will not sign off on the training of men alone in 2020.

“If we are building a  police force, it has to be all-inclusive. So this male ordered principle that we have been guided by over the years, I believe women can perform equally as men once given the opportunity to do so. Therefore  we have to give  women equal opportunities as we do our men,” Blackmoore argued.

He indicated that provision has been made and the prime minister has consented to pay for a location to house women.

Meantime, Corbette said that plans are in place to train no less than 15 women in the new group of cohorts.

He urged individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 with four Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) subjects inclusive of Maths or English, who are interested in joining the force, to do so stressing that the additional manpower is required.

Hmmmm this is a very good idea but the young ladies MUST remember to keep those legs closed tightly! From recruiting through their career it MUST be understood that they don’t have too spread their “walking members” to be successful.

From ministers, senators, politicians to training instructors and the garbadine squad I say leave the young ladies alone. It is alleged that any women escaping politicians grip during recruiting is sure to be “mounted” by those in garbadine and training instructors within the firs year of service. This I despise!!! Mr. Corbette, please make sure you have a new and respectful training team and warn your garbadine squad. They make it difficult for the men out there to marry these women because we believe they are all toys within a gang called the CDPF. Even if they leave the force the stigma is hard very very to shed and so they remain single for life because of stigma. I will keep looking 8) 8) 8)

Seems like this government has mastered the art of tokenism. You want to give women equal opportunities by increasing the number of women in the police force, great. In the mean time, the most underpaid and disrespected government workers are teachers and nurses of whom the majority are women, more so than in other professions.

In these modern times, the average range for price recruit shoukd be increased to at least age 45 years. Individuals are generally more mature at this older adult ages. They may have had experiences in other fields of work. They may want to contribute to the nation. The current age limit of 40 yearsmay seem discriminatory to age and can deter those who want to serve as police.

Here are some top priorities for the Dominica Police Force in no particular order:
    *The Force should be depoliticized
*An independent BODY should select the COP after application for the position
*Recruiting should be a meticulous process
*Professionalism should be of the highest priority
    * Ongoing training compulsory
*The Force should be well resourced
At present, the Police Force is unprofessional and serves at the behest of Mr. Skerrit. In fact, it acts like his private security tactical unit. It is the military wing of this oppressive regime.

Recruiting more females in the present Dominica Police Force would add no value. Only a total revamping, reorganization and reeducation will suffice.

Women stand for your rights. Don’t let them take advantage of you.

Yes good because make officers should not be allowed to frisk or search females. Ive heard stories from male officers who have openly admitted to inappropriately touching women as if it was something cool to do. So yes more female officers of sound mind and good moral standing are needed.
