Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Vince Henderson, has called for the de-escalation of the tensions between Israel and Palestine and hopes that the two countries can come to some agreement.
He made the comment during a live interview on State-Owned DBS Radio on Tuesday.
Residents of the Gaza Strip scrambled to find safety on Wednesday, as Israeli warplanes hammered neighbourhood after neighbourhood in the tiny coastal enclave, retaliating for the deadly weekend attack by Hamas militants, where they gunned down civilians in their homes, on streets and at a mass outdoor music festival.
“We have expressed our condolences to the government and people of Israel. We think that this is an unfortunate situation that has occurred in that part of the world, Israel and the Palestine state,” Dr. Henderson said.“We call for de-escalation of the tension, hoping that both parties can come to some agreement and to ease the tension, especially in Gaza.”
Dr. Henderson also called for the implementation of a two-state solution which he said was agreed upon since 2002 by the Government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
“And we are calling for the two-state solution which will help to de-escalate the tensions and will bring peace in the Middle East,” Dominica’s top diplomat stated. “But we recognized that Israel has the right to defend itself, but the Palestinian people also have a right to a state and we believe that this discussion must take place to ensure that the tension can be de-escalated.”
Dr. Henderson described the situation as unfortunate and said Dominica condemns the actions of any terrorist group.

You are right by that, my brother. Many of us in the Western world, especially the small island states do not even do some research to know exactly what’s truly going on in the world. We have a tendency to regurgitate what little international news we hear and think every word that’s spoken is truth. The Christian world has also demonise Palestine and has always elevated Israel. These people called Israelis are settlers and invaders of the land who came from Europe. The Palestinians are desert dwellers who are also called sand people. The original inhabitants of that land are really Africans. Israel is a military outpost that was set up in that area by Britain. Jews are not a race but just a religion. There’s so much to know and learn.
I agree – Iran is the ultimate target of the war hungry USA (Unfortunate State of America) and it’s proxy – Israel. I believe this action by Hamas was known of in advance by the intel community, but deliberately allowed to happen in order to lure Iran into the conflict, thus providing an excuse to go after them.
