The National Youth Parliament of Dominica has officially opened applications for its 2023 cohort. The initiative is calling on young individuals aged between 16 and 35 to apply, offering them a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, propose legislation, and gain insights into the parliamentary system.

This dynamic platform allows young Dominicans from diverse backgrounds to voice their opinions, share their ideas, and actively contribute to the nation’s development. It is particularly appealing to those interested in politics, law, social sciences, and anyone passionate about positive change.

Participation in the National Youth Parliament provides numerous benefits. These include practical experience in parliamentary procedures and debate, development of leadership and public speaking skills, networking opportunities with like-minded young leaders across Dominica, contributing to discussions on critical national issues, and making a positive impact on the country’s future.

Applications will remain open until Monday, October 23rd, 2023 at 11:59 PM. For more information and details on the application process, individuals are encouraged to follow the National Youth Council on Facebook at National Youth Council of Dominica or on Instagram at nycdomnica. Alternatively, they can call the NYCD office at 767-448-6944.

The National Youth Parliament of Dominica invites young citizens to actively engage in the country’s governance and make a meaningful difference. Every voice counts!

For further information, please contact Mr. Phael Lander, President/NYP Chair at [email protected] or Miss Jermasha Mellow, Communications Lead at [email protected]. The representatives look forward to serving you and the youth of Dominica as they strive to highlight the contributions and achievements of Dominican youth under their universal motto of “Youth Representing Youth, Positively!”

My big question is what role does this body perform? I see a lot of people in there who have tried time and time again to be something in society one way or another. Where they failed or got some traction thats besides the point. But WHAT HAVE THESE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO PLAY DRESS UP AND DO MOCK PARLIAMENT DEBATES, what good has come out of their operation FOR THE YOUTH OF THE COUNTRY. How has the standard of living for youth in Dominica improved from their work? Because as it stands i see nothing happening except parties and rum selling.

Nothing at all to do with youth but everything to do with an additional base for young Skerrit worshippers. It’s all about money, that’s all it is. Dominicans, stop being so naive!

This organisation would have been a great assert to the country if it was not absolutely and completely politicised by the political animal in the apex position of government. This organisation has become a breeding source for potential budding SLP hopefuls.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 6 Thumb down 4
