The Ministry of Tourism has announced a partnership with Global Lounge Network, a leading lounge management firm, to enhance the executive lounge experience at Douglas-Charles Airport and enable Dominica to tap into Global Lounge’s global network. This collaboration, which occurred on the second day of Routes Americas, promises to elevate passengers’ travel experience by delivering first-class amenities and services.
Benoit Bardouille, CEO of DASPA, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative: “Our partnership with Global Lounge Network is designed to transform the passenger experience, boost non-aeronautical revenue, and draw in premium travelers in search of exclusive lounge amenities. This initiative will enhance the appeal of our airport and generate employment opportunities at Douglas-Charles Airport. It will also elevate the level of customer service through training that aligns with international standards.”
The Honourable Denise Charles-Pemberton, Minister for Tourism, shared her excitement about the benefits of this collaboration: “Our alliance with Global Lounge Network allows them to extend their offerings in the nature island to their loyal customers. This allows Dominica to be promoted in their network which handles over 300, 000 passengers monthly and the vast customer base of Priority Pass and Lounge Key. This move puts us on par with the travel experience they offer at major hubs like Miami, Puerto Rico, and San Francisco. It also supports the furthe development [of] our local hospitality industry by adding value for guests.

Hello and good evening my people. Well if they are building an international airport then why would they spend money on a lounge that most Dominicans won’t used. One can’t even fly from JFK to Dominica and arrive the same day. I took Jet Blue to San Juan to catch a joining flight on Silver Airways to Dominica. I arrived at 10:30 am but I was told the flight is delayed to three PM only to find out that the flight was cancelled. The following day they said the 7 am flight is now delayed again to 3:30 pm which I finally took to Dominica. A lounge isn’t doing anything for us when we can’t get dependable flights home. So what’s going to happen when the new airport is built.

If I understood the contents of this article seems like the proposed enhancements are not geared towards improving lounge comfort for ” ordinary ” travellers. Now this is ok for folks with the means.
At the same time though, for ” ordinary ” travellers like me, ” our lounge ” still is a nightmare : aircon not always working, roof leaking when it rains and smelly washrooms. When can we expect to see improvements in these areas, please ?

What you see is what you get; Melville Hall Airport is Roosevelt international airport, if indeed an international airport was being built in Wesley, less than two miles away, why would one bring global lounge in to pay them millions to erect something at a palace that is destined to become absolete, assuming an international airport is being built?
Again I say Roosevelt is giving the Chinese a military base in Wesley, and it is time he tell the truth: Roosevelt needs to explain the reason for what appears to be military or civilian bunkers being built in the areas of where he said he’s supposedly building an invisible international airport.
