ECCB continues to promote financial empowerment through FIM

A kid’s financial workshop, a financial fair and a financial symposium with college students are among activities which will form part of the observance of Financial Information Month (FIM) in Dominica during October this year.

FIM is a regional financial, economic, business and entrepreneurial education campaign executed in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) since 2002, through collaborative efforts of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, and its partners.

According to the ECCB, the Programme incorporates a series of initiatives designed to support the attainment of the goal of “Financial Empowerment Through Education’ that fosters strong and sustainable economic growth and the improved well-being of the citizenry.

Other planned activities for the observance of FIM in Dominica include the daily airing of financial tips, radio discussions, participation in the Walk for Cancer Care on Saturday, 6 October with the Dominica Cancer Society and a church service at the Bellevue Chopin Catholic Chapel at 10:30 am on Sunday,  7th October.

This year, the institutions which have partnered with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank for FIM include: University of the West Indies, Bank of Nova Scotia, National Bank of Dominica, AID Bank, FirstCaribbean International Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, National Development Foundation of Dominica, SAGICOR, First Domestic Insurance, National Cooperative Credit Union, Dominica Social Security, Central Cooperative Credit Union, Dominica Youth Business Trust, Dominica Broadcasting Corporation, Q95 FM, Vibes Radio and Kairi FM.

The ECCB has also produced a jingle which captures the theme for the Financial Information Month campaign: Financial Empowerment Through Education. The jingle highlights the actions individuals need to take to achieve financial empowerment.

The ECCB is encouraging the general public to participate in these activities and to visit the ‘Financial Information Month’ Facebook page for more information.

The audio and lyrics of the FIM jingle are posted below.
