Joseph

The Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC) is anticipating a reduction in personal income tax when the national budget is presented this month.

Executive Director of the DAIC, Achille Joseph says the chamber also expects to see a focus on training development of the youth and investment in capacity development among others.

“Budgets are always a challenge, not only for government but also for financial organizations, so a lot of people are looking forward to that realistic and timely budget. I think it’s going to focus a lot on things like social issues, capital expenditure; I am going to expect to see investment in training and development of our young people,” he said.

Joseph said he also expects to see some sought of relief for persons who are in the lower level of the economic bracket, persons who are on welfare and persons who are on fixed income.

Here’s my two pence. All shpkeepers should pay income taxes on their incomes.I assume they pay themselves. All beauty saloons/ barber shops should pay taxes to the national treasury. If you reduce personal income taxes, you have to raise revenue else where.

“(DAIC) is anticipating a reduction in personal income tax when the national budget is presented this month.”

Ashill, what constitute your anticipation of reduction in income tax?

Any reduction in income tax, means a reduction in revenue: can the nation afford to lose money at this time.

The income tax collected is used to pay civil servants, and support of the nations infrastructure; a reduction in revenue, means that some planed project may have to be suspended, or quashed completely, if I had the authority, I would not recommend any reduction in the taxes people pay!

A reduction in income tax, could mean that there may not be enough money to purchase medication that is needed to treat patients in the our hospitals.

People are perhaps already overburdened, nonetheless, it’s our responsibility to maintain our country, and our only alternative is to simply pay our taxes, and bite the bullet, rather than running out begging for a loan to by medication, to save the life’s of our citizens.

And now a note to the Wesley dog!

You little worm form Wesley, you little pit worm, if you respond to me with any nonsense, such as calling me Canadian Moo-moo, hahahahahahahahahahahaha, I will come to Wesley, find you and slap your ugly face, you little weasel!
