The Commonwealth of Dominica Police force has welcomed into it ranks 36 new members after last evening recruit’s graduation ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Skerritt admonished the new officers that while there were challenges ahead because of the increasing difficulty in the execution of policing, they ought to perform their functions are to be carried out in accordance with the Laws of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
“It is important for you to understand that no one, including yourselves, is above the law in Dominica. You cannot go about dispensing your responsibilities by assumed power or responsibility. Every action is supposed to be done in accordance to the law,” the PM expressed.
He added, “You cannot compromise your position and your responsibility. With the increased capacity to gather intelligence, nothing is a secret in this world. And if you get yourself on the wrong side of the law, the intelligence community will know who you are, your name, your rank and where you live. And I am saying to you that you should not get yourselves involved in any illegal activities.”
Skerritt reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to security and pledged its continued support to the police to provide the tools and personnel to properly secure the country.
This year’s Best Recruit PC Jeremy Leblanc of Vielle Case admits that he did not know what to expect, but his dedication and hard work brought him through the four months of intense physical, mental and academic training.
Leblance said. “At first [I wanted to be a police officer] but as you grow up your goals get sidetracked a bit. I was into business in high school and from there I went to the UK to try for the British Army, but I changed my mind at the last moment and chose to came back to Dominica and when the opportunity presented itself, I decided to take it. Congrats joejoe i love you.
Congrats to all of y’all…… ESP Chris, Marvin and Malcolm!!!! I’m proud of u all! All the best.
Is that realy the PM speech. You mean to tell me the guys just graduate from police training and your speech to them if not to break the law and they are watched. WTF. Is that because there is a problem of DA policemen and women breaking the law. Speech sound like a warning and not the point of view i would expect.
How about make it a profession, be fair and firm in protectiong the law of the land without the influence of money and politics.
I hope you send them new police patrol the the Roseau area to guard against robberies instead of having them in the bush looking for what they didn’t put there…………..

now i really see that we “It is important for you to understand that no one, including yourselves, is above the law in Dominica. You cannot go about dispensing your responsibilities by assumed power or responsibility. Every action is supposed to be done in accordance to the law,” the PM expressed.
BON DIAY SKERRIT HAVE GUTS!!!!!!!!!!
nice to have new officers on the force and congrats to them.
however, i a deeply worried about the bad examples that are being set for them by those seasoned officers
young people do your job as the law prescribes and forget those bad eggs on the force. and don’t take things for granted. keep educating yourselves
Congratulations to the young men and women who graduated from the Commonweath of Dominica Police Academy. As a former police officer myself, I challenge you all to take your job seriously and to make a difference in society. Remember all eyes will be on you as you take up the task of enforcing law and order. You all are not above the law and as such should abide by them. The object of an efficient police officer is the prevention of crime. Be proud and stand tall of the career path you all have chosen. Remember being a police officer is not an easy task. As future law enforcement officers I charge you all in being your own individuals and not let others influence you in doing anything that would jeopardize your careers. You’ve worked hard and deserve the positions you now hold. God bless you all and as usual be safe.

INTELLECTUAL GANGSTA!!
“And if you get yourself on the wrong side of the law, the intelligence community will know who you are, your name, your rank and where you live” So in other words skerritt will be spying on the new officers. but, but, but, but
just wondering, can they read
jackass
It seems like NOTHING this government does will please the likes of you. Even if they were to put a thiusand of the medical machines you are asking for, you would still find a reason to criticize. My adivise to you is simple: go hide under a rock, and come out in 2050 or so when maybe a government of your liking would be in power in DA, because no one really cares about the crappy comments that you make.
i agree totally, so many officers on the district getting fat, with legs up watching tv, drinking rum and nothing is getting done…anyways, four months of training is crap!!! no wonder thieves get away muchless, do we really need more officers patrolling in new vehicles?
criminology maybe should be an option, police training maybe need to be under state college now, some of them cannot even write a statement…c’mon people c’mon

Well I dont know what could be more important than the safty and security of the citizens of a country. Without the police not even the hospitals would be safe and certainly they would be much more crowded and so to would the motuaries and cemetaries.
Whilst I agree with the Prime Minister on the issue of involvement of police in illegal activities, I think though that the Prime Miniter should look at increasing the salaries of the police so as to help discourage them from considering to engage in illegal activities to make ends meet and support their families instead of using intimidation tactics.
Congrats to the recruits.

First he said THAT and now he says THIS! Lets just say that PM is “wising up” because those sentiment are sobering thought, it looks like he has gotten new information about truly how VAST & FAR REACHING the INTEL COMMUNITY IS! hmmmmmmm……
CONGRATS TO ALANA HONORE AND JEREMY AND FABIEN LEBLANC AND MAVIN FROM VIEILLE CASE, DO YOUR JOB WITH “NO FEAR, NO FAVOUR” BUT BE HUMBLE
I want to join the DPF but I’m too old!
Congratulations to all the recruits. You may have to endure listening to that title “Recruit” for a while but it will soon fade away as soon as you settle down and start doing some serious work. Keep your heads up, be positive, maintain the “Esprit De Corps” which exist, look out for your colleague in every way possible, and work together to achieve one goal. Remember to find ways to work smarter, not harder.
Cogratulations to PC Cyril S.Carette, wish u all the best on this journey. Make Portsmouth proud.
