The Grand Fond Road is about to get some attention, according to the country’s public works minister.
Rayburn Blackmoore says the Ministry of Finance has approved EC$384,000 for rehabilitation work on the entrance road leading to the village of Grand Fond.
According to the minister the project will involve excavation, stabilization of the cliff there and seventy metres of road work.
A wall extending 150 metres will also form part of the rehabilitation process.
The project is expected to be carried out by local company Offshore and Marine, and is part of ongoing rehabilitation work being undertaken in several parts of the country.
Minister Blackmoore says plans are also being finalized to address road edge failure concerns in other communities including Penville and Grandbay.

Give them people a good road as is done in other parts of the island en! The money still looking small for a road project! Give gen grandfond a two lane road with railings, good drainage and please mash down that cliff so as to ensure no more land slides.. Hope the project would start and finish bobin speed! Grand fond folks – as is the case of other folks from Dominica- deserve a good slice of the pizza. May God ensure that this project goes through… Ps> Make sure the excavators are working properly and there is one assigned to the project.. No big truck coming and carry the excavator as if the excavator travelling up and down , chemen grand fond – to whereever and for whatever……

I hope just as the playing field and the Petite Soufriere/ Rosalie link road this project wont be left 1\16th completed. yet still the wicked, blind hypocritical supporters of the Pal REP and PM in GF will still say. Have patience, they will do it. I pray to GOD none of their family members don’t get injured on that dangerous road before it is fixed.

The road to pedi temp to take u where pomp live.there is a lot of abondon fertile land .road use to go there before.now we have all this heavy equipment and money .what labour is waiting for.
Did Pomme tell you or ask anyone for road? There are hundreds of arces of fertile land around DA with motorable roads yet our food production (agricultural output) keeps dropping every year. What I have noticed is that these agricultural lands with motorable roads are now being sold to the highest bidder who are mostly foreigners who eventually commercialize the place. For the most part our generation are not appreciative of what we have and what our grand parents worked for. I may be wrong but in my mind opening up pedu temp road will just make more land available for sale to foreigners.

Give credit where it is due. But I am holding my head cause so many times in the past the same thing has happened. Promise road rehabilitation and low and behold it turned out as an election ploy equipment brought to the location and later taken away saying a much more urgent need for the equipment in other areas. So we have heard that tune in the past. Better late than never and while I am at it frankly, in my opinion a complete new road should be build for the Grandfond people cause the present track goes back as far as when our great grand parents had to walk from Delices thru Laudat to Roseau. But some one is going to say the funds are not available and other areas need their fair share of the cake so we go see!
