Grant secured for cleaning drains in Fond Cole

Timothy

A grant of $200,000 has been secured by the Roosevelt Skerrit-led administration to clear drains in the Fond Cole area.

Parliamentary Representative for Roseau North Julius Timothy told Parliament that the grant is part of a disaster mitigation effort in the community.

“We have started clearing all the drains and gullies in the Fond Cole area and we are asking the people of Fond Cole to keep those drains cleaned. The Ministry of Disaster Management has also secured a grant of over $200,000 for drain clearing and preparation and we expect this program to begin very shortly.

He says plans are afoot to move into the Gutter and Tarish Pit area.

Timothy said all this is part of government’s urban renewal strategy.

Good job Mr. Minister and thank you. Hope this is just the begining of more good things to come.

Can someone please explain to me why we have to borrow money to clean drains instead of using prisoners like we used to do in the old days when common sense prevailed?

Instead of housing and feeding criminals (along with providing them with defense lawyers)for free, why don’t we put them to work so they can repay society?

When law abiding citizens have to support those who break the law is justice really served?

Clean drains you say? I thought the rains did that in fond Cole ever so often, any, I hope is not another garbage bin scenario that going on there.

BTW Mr. Minister have you ever driven on those roads going into Fond Cole? Those things are not pot holes awa, is new road in a road. Can’t you split the money? 100 for roads and 100 for drains, look it, bad roads with pretty drains.

I suspect is another fertilizer scenario that there, I hope is not lawyer bills it paying.

Sounds good, but hope it ends good by creating jobs for persons in the areas. I further concern is that our public officer who get paid to patrol seems to have hiding spots. Person complain about pay but don’t do what they get paid to do? Talk and actions needs to go Hand in Hand.

I was also thinking the same thing.

$200.00 seems a bit much just to clean some drains. I hope they are not just going to remove the rubbish, but also do some repair work.

Once all this is done, employ a few street cleaners.

One has to understand that prices are high and sometimes also one has to understand that cash can be done with quickly. Sometimes if you have to see how the cents adds up, then u realise that the figures are just figures.
