Special equipment being shipped to Dominica

Iceland GeoSurvey and Iceland Drilling send out drilling equipment, a specially equipped truck for well logging and a portable lab to a geothermal project site on the Caribbean island state of Dominica.

Reported today by the company, Iceland GeoSurvey (ISOR) for the first time has shipped a specially equipped truck for well logging and a portable lab abroad, with the equipment leaving port a few days ago.

The start of exploration drilling for geothermal energy at the island of Dominica in the Caribbean is scheduled at the end of November or early December.

Geo it great stuff. By the way, several holes were drilled in St.Lucia in the 70’s, saw them myself – had to wear earplugs – I wonder wha happened to that project. Was it abandoned due to pressure from oil interests or politics or what?? anybody?
    thanks

Very good news. This is the way to go!

But just looking at the size of that piece of equipment and thinking of the Wotton Waven or Trafalgar roads. I wonder how are they going to get that long piece of equipment up either of those roads to the drilling site! Cut and widen I suppose. Best wishes

This news item was posted earlier in the day, more than five hours ago. I am surprised that the comments are so few. It is interesting that Dominica’s very vocal environmentalists have said nothing. Here is a clear sign of government’s intentions to exploit the country’s natural resources for the benefit of all, something the environmentalists have been calling for for a long time. It is called sustainable development, green development, wise development etc. Athie, Riviere, Bernard, Harris, Rabess etc cannot bring themselves, even now, when governmemt is not only speaking but rather acting in their own language to recognize that the government is doing something good.

Dominica has 365 rivers…..good idea or bad idea to drill baby drill…only time will tell, we might just bite more than we can chew. I am all for geothermal energy but kind of scared about the whole thing.

FYI – There are several countries that have harnessed geothermal energy including our neighbour Guadeloupe.

hmmm – that’s good. I notice these people are experts, and they have equipment, specialized equipment. Anyone who knows cursory information about Iceland will know that the country is a geothermal hotbed, precisely because it sits on a juncture in the earth’s crust where two tectonic plates meet. People travel to the country to soak in the mineral baths that abound the country – in other words, the country has several Screws Sulphur Springs.

Now, contrast the expertise coming our way with that which was offered by that lawyer in Maryland – what was he going to drill with – his pen?
