Kempinski Hotel Project on track for 2019 Debut

Range construction team

Dominica – Local investment and hospitality company Range Developments reaffirms its commitment to Dominica and to complete the Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski, Dominica on schedule.

The team on site has been working steadily and frequently late into the night to ensure what will be undoubtedly one of the finest hotels in the Eastern Caribbean that opens in the second half of 2019.

The Resort’s General Manager has already been appointed and brings a wealth of operational experience with him.

There has been significant site progress over the last few months – hardwood roofs have been installed to most of the public buildings and external finishing work is nearing completion. Interior finishing work is underway. There is significant momentum on site and the Resort is rapidly taking shape. There are over 450 people on site daily and this will rise upwards of 700 in the coming months.

In addition, in the coming months, the details of Range’s Dominica hospitality training program will be announced, as well as, a series of job fairs. Details will be advertised in the local press.

The Cabrits Resort & Spa Kempinski, Dominica is the first approved citizenship by investment project in Dominica. Its success will ensure Dominica is firmly cemented on the luxury tourism map and the economic impact of the Resort is already being felt islandwide.

Range has a structured corporate responsibility program which has seen Range’s acceptance into the local communities in which we operate. Recently Range has supported the reconstruction of the Dominica Women’s Centre, CALLs and the Cabrits Pier, as well as awarding a number of educational scholarships.

Best wishes to the project. An intl airport is indeed need to compliment 5-star hotels so that many foreigners can host events there by flying their ppl in without island hopping to get there. Wed benifits greatly by default. Believe me.

One of the first questions I have is this.
“Is the appointed General Manager being paid at this time?”
If he is being paid this is one of the most outrageous things ever.

”Recently Range has supported the reconstruction of the Dominica Women’s Centre, CALLs and the Cabrits Pier, as well as awarding a number of educational scholarships.” All the monies spent on these came from the sale of Dominica’s passports.

    • September 3, 2018

Is that a secret? The freedom party sold passports, when they left office in 1995, $30,000,000 from the sale of passport was left to build the layou river hotel. The UWP mismanaged those funds resulting in no hotel and all the money gone down the drain….just a reminder.

Before you write such foolishness why don’t you make an effort to understand the CBI programme. Do you really think that all these monies spent came from the sale of passports, pity your ignorance.

Well why don’t you explain to us how the CBI program works. Clearly only Skerrit and his supporters know the secrets behind it. By the way, don’t forget to explain to us also how the commission structure works. We are all in the dark and would like to be enlightened.

One of the favourite sayings of this government : On Track…!
Everything on track. Ross was on track. Hurricane recovery on track. Development on Track… Everything on track. The backwardness of Dominica on track… Rich politicians on track.. The collapsing of Dominica is on track or off track….

And now our country has run out of track, is off the rails and on the rack. Alas!

All I will say at this time is, less than a mile away from the Kempinski hotel is the Morrocan hotel that was built 5 years ago, but is yet to be opened. The coffee plant in one Mile, about a mile from the Kempinski hotel, was also built 5 years ago but can’t be opened. 1/4 mile from Ross University, less than 2 miles away from the Kimpinski hotel is another hotel that is being built but like the others, might not be opened. The question is, why is Skerrit building so much in the Portsmouth area but he not opening them?

      September 3, 2018

Maybe it is camouflage for the deposit of large sums on money into personal bank accounts. The “hotels” are just camouflage to launder money. They do not need to be open for the laundered money operation.

      • Gary
        September 3, 2018

If you do not understand how the dark world of laundering money works why write such foolishness. The laundering of money needs a functioning operating business. You do not launder money by building a multi-million dollar complex such as a hotel and then cease its operation.

        September 3, 2018

Especially since they are not liable for tax for quite a number of years. You simply deposit your money in a local bank, say that it is income from the hotel and hey presto, it is clean money.

Who is/ are the owner/s of Kempinski?
How many passports were issued to be sold to finance the Kempinski project?
Since our passports were the asset financing the project is it a state hotel?
How many passports were issued to be sold?
A huge problem confronting this government is that of transparency and accountabity. In a similar manner we were not informed about Ross, until it was taken away from us because of the ineptness, laziness and incompetence of a lazy showman posing as a leader .

Your Ignorance coupled with your partisan political beliefs is a great cocktail of what I would call a dumb political activist. The owners of Kempinski is public knowledge, are you that lazy and inept, to find out such thing at the tips of your fingers, wow. The sales of passports were not used to finance the Kempinski project if you want to remain in perpetual ignorance regarding the matter be it.

Where did you get the idea that our passports were the asset financing the project and as a result should be owned by the state. The time you spend writing nonsense on a daily basis should be put to use understanding matters of national interest. It is your right not to support the present Government, but you don’t have to be ignorant and write things based on assumptions without getting your facts.

        September 4, 2018

Again, I’m asking you to explain to us how this setup works and who the owners are and how this project was financed. It’s pointless you calling people ignorant and pretending you know it all but you don’t give us the benefit of your vast knowledge when it comes to this government and its dealings.

Gary, I am not concerned about the ownership of Kempinski, which is a well established hospitality company of German origin, today headquartered in Switzerland. They do not own the hotel under construction and merely will manage it on behalf of the owners. I have not seen any disclosure of the ownership of the hotel. Who is/are the freeholders and/or leaseholders? I wish our government would be more transparent with regard to this. It would alleviate a lot of suspicion and disquiet.

This is an interesting and important question. The contract for this development was signed in Roseau on 7 Nov. 2014 between our government and Range Capital Partners Dominica Ltd., a local company. I therefore presume this company has local shareholders, perhaps in the shape of front companies that represent local interests. What struck me on that occasion was the presence of Vince Henderson at that ceremony. (GIS, 10 No. 2014). Representing the company was Mohammed Asaria of Range Developments, who had the previous June registered a company, in London, Range Capital Advisers Ltd. with fellow director Munaf Ali, like Mohammed Asaria a U.K. citizen with residence in the UAE. The records show that Munaf Ali had a controlling interest in that company of more than 75%. The shares of that company were held by another company, Range Investments Ltd. Range Capital Advisers Ltd. is no more. It was dissolved in April of this year. So yes, who are the owners of the Kempinski development?

ATKINSON i can tell you have no idea what’s going on, but just to advise i think you should google the brand name KEMPINSKI that will answer your DUMB A.. question idiot!!!!!

    • Malatete
      September 3, 2018

Kempinki in this case is the management company . They are not the owners.

      • September 3, 2018

Which in turn begs the question, who are the owners?
