The incumbent Parliamentary Representative for Roseau North Julius Timothy has cautioned his constituency that they should not let poverty exclude them from development.
Timothy made the disclosure at the official launching of the Goodwill Reunion on Saturday night.
According to him, there are many examples of very successful people from communities in the Roseau north who grew up very poor “and who made use of the opportunities available and got an education”.
He said currently there are many other opportunities as compared to 30 and 40 years ago.
“Poverty must not mean that you have to leave in an unclean environment; poverty must not mean that you have to engage in illegal activities like sniffing cocaine, smoking marijuana or becoming a drunkard,” he said.
