Edison James inducted as “hero” in Marigot

James

Parliamentary Representative for Marigot Eddison James was among ten people who has been deemed to have given sound service to the community and inducted into “Marigot Heroes Park.”

The new initiative is one of the Marigot Development Corporation and is meant to inspire others to give good service to their neighborhoods and to Dominica.

The induction ceremony took place last Saturday.

James said the gesture must serve as inspiration to others to get involved in community development and “not just stand on the side and look.”

The other people inducted as heroes were Nurse Doris Musgrave, Belgrave O Robinson, Former House of Assembly Speaker Neva Edwards, Mary Adetha Pascal, Miriam Castor Phillip, Lionel Laville, Oliver Norris Phillip, Alton Bristol and Gustavus Timothy.

The induction ceremony was held under the theme: “Celebrating Our Heroes, Embracing their values”.

James (born October 18, 1943 in Marigot) was the prime minister of Dominica from June 14, 1995 to February 3, 2000 as well as the Member of Parliament for the Marigot constituency from 1990.

He is one of the founding members of the United Workers Party (UWP) and is its first political leader.

James has worked in a number of local and regional institutions including the Caribbean Development Bank, but it was as manager of the Dominica Banana Marketing Company that he rose to prominence in Dominica.

Thats exactly how the horn sounded in those days , so dont try to be sarcastic, people like you dont know how to complement others; rather you prefer to drag them down. Its high time that you grow up and recognise the good in others. Honor is due to whom honour is due. Edison has done well in Marigot and will continue to help his people in whatever way he can.God Bless you.

Congratulations to all those who were selected for induction into the Marigot Heroes Park by the Marigot Development Corporation(MDC). I worked in Marigot in the 80’s and I am very proud to say that the people of Marigot are movers rather than talkers. The Honorable Eddison Chenfield James is deserving of this accolade and let me add my voice to all the congratulatory messages that has been sent previously…best wishes for the future my friend.

Recently an effort was made to erect a bust of the Late Great Roosevelt B. Douglas, the deceased Prime Minister and Comrade of all the people of Dominica. Instead the bust of a Chinese was almost erected for him…just ask McIntyre Douglas about it. To date no bust for the great Comrade and friend of all Dominicans.

To the MDC, keep of the good work. So many of us out there envy your efforts.

Congratulations to all the reciepients, but a very special congratulation and bien-faitre to you Mr Edison C James. If the Marigot community find you deserving, to which I have no doubt you have been a son and community leader then way to go.

Dominicans don’t know when to seperate issues, furthermore there is this hatred towards Marigot people. Most of your critiques have never met you, they despise and spew anger against you based solely on the fact you came from Marigot or your political stance. You are a distinguished gentlemen and I feel proud to have met you, to engage you in conversation and to learn so much from you. If only people could for a moment understand the capability, functionality and mind of Edison Chenfill James but we choose to wallow in negativity no matter what. Thank you Marigot for recognising him.

Any man or woman who has served Dominica at the highest level deserves some accolade. To rise to the call for political duty in Dominica is an immense undertaking. Those who so respond deserve respect and recognition.

I am not and perhaps will never support Mr. James’ politics because I believe a lot of it rests on an emotional response rather than a truly philosophical raison d’etre -unlike Freedom Party, Conservative and Labour Party, working class. But the man has served us and Marigot has every reason to honor him. On the national stage though, his report card wil show a below average performance. But guess what, he has served and continue to served Dominica for a longer period than any elected parliamentarian ever did. That alone is a deserving of accolades. Congrats, Sir.

    April 18, 2011

A hero is one who makes a difference for the best in the lives of many and turns his enemies into friends. His conquered obstacles, for the benefit of others, are his qualifying credentials and a measure of his true leadership. So who is the true hero? Who?

It’s being known that many people do not like marigot people, for what I do not know.
Some say it’s because many knowldgeable people come from there and have served dominica very well.

Honestly, I am from marigot and Mr. James is no hero to the village. He is not a smart politician.
He mixes negative emotions with politics and that never works. He was in power before. if he had served the people well , he would be still in power regardless if the masses of people have negative feelings towards him. He could have change their sentiments.

Edison plays politics like a kid. it is tic for tac.

And those are the comments that should be written but instead these people only think breath eat sleep drink politic therefore they cant see anything else our HEROES taught us how to share love care for another I remember my teacher Miss Mary Pascal at old infant school the sciptures were very important and appearance as key attending service when Mr. Gustavus Timothy was preaching, Nurse Doris Musgrave maybe she brouight almost all from genartion into this world she deserved to be one of ourheroes and as for Lionel Laville bringing coconut jelly to school for the children especially when it was election time we the children didnt even care what was going on or who our parents were supporting we all got coconut jelly to drink we dont know if it made a different but he kept doing it and when I remember those individuals yes they are true HEROES of MARIGOT and we are very proud of all of them hats off to MDC Inc.And to those who do not like us we still love you all because that’s the kind of people we are.
