Born on the tiny fishing village of Bense and a past student of the Portsmouth Secondary School, Rebecca Theodore is rapidly leaving her mark on the literary world as a brilliant writer and public speaker and amassing a great deal of fame and fortune in the process.
Speaking before an audience of students, alumni, professionals and law practitioners at the Harvard Law School in Boston MA last weekend, Ms. Theodore emphasized the concerns of democratic, educational, judicial, economic and security reform as the platform for political stability in the Caribbean as she addressed the second annual Caribbean Law Conference’s theme – Money, Power Respect: Economic Development in the Caribbean region.
A graduate of Centennial College and York University in Toronto Canada, Ms. Theodore is known to vigorously defend and debate her views and opinions on politics and philosophy and is also a national security and political op-ed commentator at Caribbean news now where her persuasive writing style increases reader participation and generates meaningful dialogue to the extent of challenging the Castro regime to liberate women’s voices in Cuba.
With a book contract in the works, a long writing and speaking career ahead and deeply meshed in her Ph.D. studies, Ms. Theodore says that her confidence and eloquence, diction and fluency stems from her humble beginnings of narrating the mission story report at the Bense SDA church on Saturday mornings many moons ago, amidst the widespread criticisms of her peers.
Ms. Theodore is also a Canadian citizen. However, her leading loyalties are to Dominica and her English teacher at the Bense Primary School, the late Linton Matthew who first taught her how to write a composition and always said that she was one of his best English students.
Boy, you people are easy to fool!

Kudos to you Rebecca. I haven’t had the privilege to read any of your commentary but just being from the same community that you grew up in fosters a certain kindred spirit in me. Hope we can be in touch soon, for I have something to introduce you to. Can I ask DNO for your contact info?
Anyone can reach me at [email protected]
My! My! My! I almost choked on my cocoa tea this morning when I read this headline about Rebecca Theodore. Growing up my mother always reminisced on stories about Rebecca as they both attended the same primary school and she could never beat her in spelling test’s. Good that I finally got to see the face of the woman my mother always spoke about!
When I read news like this about my people, it makes me feel very proud to be
born “dominican” Good luck to you Rebecca, and all the best for the forth
coming future. Keep up the good work.
Respect to you.
Congratulations, young lady! I can also give credit to my late father and Rommel Lawrence at SMA for having me personally write great compositions as well.
Congrats beky, that our ole girl from PSS, PSS massive stand tall!! i even had forget rebecca, long time doh hear from you girl, i wonder where is Brinnette ………..
This lady looks so smart. She reminds me of Eugenia Charles. Hope she is planning to come home and lead her country.
Dual citizenship issue!
Allu not easy papa. This damn politics is choking our as$es and we are’nt seeing it.
Certainly a proud moment for Bense and for Dominica. Let’s lift Rebecca up in prayers for guidance and further success. We do have many brilliant folks all over the world. We can make a difference.
You mean to tell that this is the same lady writing all this right-wing cr** on Caribbean News Now? Well I guess she’s in the right circles all right, but has certainly lost touch with the true Caribbean realities (if you think I’m bashing the lady just check out some of her writings and general thought process-very close to Glen beck and Sarah Palin).
Anyway while I may not agree with your writings I must congratulate you for making a name for yourself in yourself in your adopted homeland. Good luck to you madam!!
Thank you America for giving her the opportunity to achieve her full potential keep on developing Rebecca, all our local banks are runned by foreigners, a prophet is never recognized in their own land.
Hugo Bogus, why don’t you just shut up!
Scotia Bank is run by a beautiful young lady from ST JOSEPH…Ma Scotland’s daughter…get your fax straight.
you go girl……. Would you consider coming home to run the country??
“come home to run the country???” are you kidding me??? is this how naive we are???? more than that, is this how gullible we are???? good for the woman that she is able to give lectures and write a coloumn that gets attention, but all of a sudden she is the best thing since sliced bread that there is now an open invitation to come run the country????? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!
considering what drivel she’s been writing, I wouldn’t recommend it.
People of Dominica are very talented and educated and to this lady congrats. Hopefully, we can use all these Human resoruce to start a “Dominica Think Tank” to elevate our country development and economic standing in the world.
Brilliant! Hope u can visit DA soon!
big up my cousin. We are making our mark. Way to go.
Well done! You have made Dominica proud, although I do not know you, I share your success and I pray that God continue to enlarge your boundaries and may you be drawn closer to him in the process.
Congrats cuz,you make us very proud.
Oh my! Another Dominican making us proud. I don’t know what others think but it is surely our time. Keep at it!
good work becky! Proud to be from Bense. Remain humble!!!!!
Congrats to a fellow Dominican. We should be proud of our own. Keep up the good works.
congratulations and please remain close to your Savior in these trying times. Wish you could come home but with the dual citizenship monster looming over our heads I do not think it is such a good idea. I am opined that these laws should be revised to allow all of Dominica[s best brain to govern the country. Sad to say Dominicans do not like what is good, otherwise we would stop fighting the good and fight evil.
