The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has hosted its second annual PATW (Present Around the World) Speech Competition in Trinidad and Tobago this year at the University of the Southern Caribbean, Maracus Valley, St. Joseph, Trinidad earlier this month.
Ms. Lynthea Reefe, of Wesley, Dominica and a member of the USC Dominica Club is one of the two certified winners of the first segment of the competition.
Ms. Reefe presentation highlighted geothermal energy as the innovation solution for Dominica’s electrical and economic problem. The Institution of Engineering and Technology- Caribbean Local Network Organizing Committee has focused this competition on presentation skills of upcoming professionals, technologists, engineers and scientists.
This competition included tertiary level students and young professionals with the opportunity to polish their presentation skills by exposing them to a competitive environment, firstly at a local level, Regional and later at a global level.
Ms. Lynthea Reefe will be going on to represent the Caribbean at the regional competition in Boston in September 2011, and if successful, will move on to the global finals in November at London.
We wish her much success as she represents her country, her club and university and the Caribbean in this prestigious and academic competition.
