FIM Information Month ends with school challenge

The final local activity for Financial Information Month (FIM) 2014 ended earlier this week with the first FIM Primary School Challenge.

Twelve  representatives from 12 primary schools mentored by 12 Financial Information Month Partners competed in two rounds based on a taught syllabus which was developed by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and approved by the Ministry of Education. Three (3) pupils topped the challenge as follows:-

1st Place – Aisha Royer from Newtown Primary School mentored by RBC Royal Bank of Canada

2nd Place – Celina Pinard from Roseau Seventh Day Adventist mentioned by First Domestic Insurance and

3rd Place – Khae-Leanne Shillingford from St Martin’s Primary mentored by Bank of Nova Scotia

All twelve pupils received certificates and deposit accounts of varying amounts at FIM partnering deposit taking financial institutions.

The 27 Financial Information Month Partners and First Domestic Insurance also made a donation of $1,000.00 to Junior Achievement towards its Business Plan Presentation for High School Students (photo attached)

A donation from FIM 2014 Partners will also be made to the Cancer Association.

    Congrats! to all the students, who participated especially the three who have topped. Hats off to Roseau SDA!
