Helping hands from Lions Club of Dominica

Yohanis Charles with members of the club

Another student will be better equipped to begin the new school term through the assistance of the Lions Club of Dominica.

15-year-old Yohanis Charles, a fourth form student on the Pierre Charles Secondary School was the recipient of a partial scholarship from the Lions Club of Dominica, which included textbooks and school materials.

Yohanis’ plight was brought to the attention of the club through members of the community and plans were put into motion to make sure he got the necessary supplies so he could adequately prepare and apply himself to his lessons.

This year the Club has been mandated to focus on him and finding as many ways as possible to ensure that young people are given the opportunities that without assistance they would not be able to afford.

Yohanis thanked the Lions Club and promised to work hard during the school year and to achieve good grades.

The Lions Club of Dominica is part of the International Association of Lions Club which has a membership of approximately 1.35 million members worldwide in more than 285 geographical locations.
