Individuals and businesses, who have partnered with the Junior Achievers Dominica by providing assistance in both cash and kind to the organization, have been recognized for their contribution.

Twelve business establishments, eight volunteers and seven media houses, including Dominica News Online (DNO), were awarded at a ceremony held at the National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD) conference room on Wednesday.

Executive Director of JA Dominica, Natasha Yeeloy-Labaad, said that, “the Junior Achievement agenda here in Dominica, is not only being recognized, but some of you have taken this on in a very personal way … that’s something that need to be commended.”

Labaad noted that she intends to make “a shout” to show how much JA Dominica appreciates its valuable partners.

“We are going to put it up on our Facebook page, and we are going to have your name, and guess what? As if that is not enough, we are going to put it up on our wall, at JA, on our famous wall of fame, because we think that it is important for people to know that there are persons in this country that take education and take educating young lives, very seriously,” she noted.

On another note, the organization announced that it will soon officially launch its “Our Nation Program.”

The program will provide practical information about business needs for individuals who can meet the demands of the job market, including high growth and high demand jobs.

Five schools have already signed up for participation, according to Labaad and they will be “trained on the use of the materials to access professionals because a lot of the volunteers that we have, actually work in the private sector. They work in offices.”

Junior Achievers is part of the world’s largest organisation dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.

Junior Achievers Dominica Inc. is a locally registered non-profit organisation located at 4 Fort Lane, Roseau, Dominica.
