Keaneau Joseph tops spelling bee competition; to represent Dominica in St. Kitts

Keaneau Joseph (standing) and other winners of the competition

Keaneau Joseph of the Soufriere Primary School took home the winner’s trophy at the Haliborange/Rotaract Club Spelling Bee competition, which was held at the Arawak house of culture last Saturday.

Keaneau will go on to represent Dominica at the regional competition in St. Kitts, in November.

The elation on Keaneau’s face was there for all to see. He sat proudly holding his winner’s trophy, Haliborange products and gifts. He will also receive a brand new Kindle, while his school will receive a projector.

Kandace Pond of the Grandbay Primary School was the first runner up; Hali Prince of the St. Luke’s Primary School placed second; and Renolya Valmond of the Goodwill Primary School placed third. Each student received a supply of Haliborange products and a range of educational prizes. The students also received a certificate of participation on behalf of their school.

The Rotaract Club of Roseau extends thanks to all of the sponsors. The Club also hopes to see much more schools participate in next year’s competition.

Congrats Keaneau, you did well. To the Rotaract club and Seven Seas; A kindle? What happened to a computer/laptop as the Grand Prize? A kindle could have done nicely as a 2nd prize. Why did you lower the 1st prize value?

good job Keaneau. Congrats Bertillia Peltier….i can see you smiling. See big things can come from little schools. So all those parents taking their children out of soufriere school and sending them to roseau and still not taking the time to help them out, take example on this. Its not all about the teacher stupid, its about you too.
