All teams have been given the same topic for the FIRST ROUND: “DEMOCRACY IS ALIVE AND WELL IN DOMINICA.”
This topic should generate much interest among our youths in the secondary schools. On Friday, February 4, 2011 the Kiwanis Club of Roseau held the customary annual workshop for would be debaters from all secondary schools on the island. There were over 60 students from 12 secondary school. Students were tutored on “How to Debate” and were engaged in discussions on “Public Speaking.” The workshop culminated with mock debates among the students present.
This year 14 out of 15 secondary schools in Dominica will participate and at each Round complimentary prizes will be given to the teams not moving on futher in the subsequent competition stages.
Also this year the Waitukubuli National Trail Project will partner with the Kiwanis Club of Roseau to bring more awareness to the public on the usefulness of that national enterprise and treasure.
