Koulirou Youth and Internet Center Opens

By: ChildFund Caribbean

The “La Plaine Youth On The Rise” Group is an affiliate of the La Plaine Child Development Centre and ChildFund Caribbean.

It was formed on June 20, 2009 from a felt need by the young people to have a voice on issues affecting them.
The group’s main goal is to promote youth involvement in community development.

As a result, the group has identified a series of programs and projects to be undertaken in order to achieve that goal.
One such project is the establishment of an Internet café in the community to serve the educational needs of the young people.

Funds were made available by a kind sponsor, Mr. Brian Anderson of the United States, through ChildFund. Subsequently, the members have worked tirelessly to get the center up and running.

Koulirou Youth and Internet Center will provide a unique forum for communication and entertainment through the medium of the Internet.

Koulirou Youth and Internet Center is the answer to an increasing demand for attention to the plight of young people.

The youth and the public want access to the methods of communication and volumes of information now available on the Internet, and at a cost they can afford and in such a way that they aren’t socially, economically, or politically isolated.

Koulirou Youth and Internet Center’s goal is to provide the young people and by extension the community with a social, educational, entertaining, atmosphere for worldwide communication and thus keep them away from negative behavior.

The center will be launched on Saturday May 29, 2010 at 4pm, at the La Plaine Child Development Centre grounds. The general public is invited to support the effort of the young people.
