National Youth Council joins in search for Shanice Jemmott

Shanice has been missing for nine days now

The National Youth Council (NYC) is lending a helping hand in the search for Shanice Jemmott, 14 of Layou.

The NYC is putting up posters and getting in contact with members of Jemmott’s family in hopes of locating the teenager who disappeared nine days ago.

The NYC has described the situation as alarming and wants the nation to rally efforts to bring Jemmott home.

The group’s president Delroy Williams says an activity is being planned for next week to make more people aware of the missing teenager.

 Come on…where are all the psychics all over the island who are more than ready to help people make voodoo to harm and kill others, those who help sell people to the devil in order to get money to live large? We need them to help us find Shanice. Where are the crystal balls. Shake them and make them work. Now that we need to find a missing girl and not one psychic is coming forward

EVEN IN THIS TIME OF SADNESS AND SORROW YOU ALL STUPID DUMB IGNORANT PEOPLE ARE BLAMING EACH OTHER. YOU HAVE GONE SO FAR AS TO BLAME THE GOVT WHICH IS THE PM. WHY DON’T YOU BLAME THE STUPID TOXIC TALK SHOW HOSTS LIKE LENNOX, MATT AND THE OTHERS FOR NOT ANNOUNCING IT OVER THE AIRWAVES INSTEAD OF TALKING ALLOT OF GARBAGE ON THE AIR EVERY DAY. WHY ARE YOU ALL SO SELFISH AND IGNORANT? TRY TO BE HUMAN FOR A CHANGE, FOR THIS IS THE TIME.

Matt dedicated almost an entire program to this missing girl sometime last week and was probably the one (besides DNO), who was able to raise the most awareness. Shame on you!

Grow up or shut up! All this political BS! THe police/SSU have been out everyday looking in the bush for this girl. They are following up on every lead regardless of how small. They are in constant contact with the family. Just because they are not announcing & publishing every action they make in the media doesn’t mean they are not doing anything! It is an open case, an on going investigation. I understand everyone wants to know what is happening but if you can read it so can the person who has her or if she ran away Shanice herself.

To the family of Shanice Jemmot and all resident Dominicans and those abroad, I continue to pray for Shanice and hope all is well with her.
Yesterday, Saturday, I sent a Prayer Request to the Franciscan Mission Associates in the U.S. for her and for her safe return. I pray that God will lead her home safely to you.
The prayer request included, prayers for her family who are wishing for her safe return.
Whatever your belief, we are all God’s children. We are to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep/mourn with those who do.
It is said that God governs the world but prayer governs God. Keep up the faith, strength and hope.
    God bless everyone of you.

    Prayer Requests:

    Dear Franciscan Friend,

    Thank you for your intentions.
Be assured of our continued remembrances in our daily masses and prayers for you and your intentions. May the good Lord keep you ever in His loving care. God bless you and yours.

i am suggesting that because this has been deemed a national emergency, that the government get the RSS involved. if our local policemen need help and their resources are limited, why dont they get the RSS involve. Mr Prime Minister you know where all your siblings are, but there is a mother in Dominica who cannot sleep at night, her child is missing, she does not have a million dollars but she needs your help. we sometimes pay out big money to do political enquiries why not use some of those funds to help this child.

the RSS are trained police officers from all over the caribbean and they will be able to help.

help Shanice before it is too late… we need more action here….

What does politics have to do with a MISSING CHILD? Why are DOMINICANS always straying from the TOPIC ! Shanice is still missing cause someone is not telling the truth! My heart goes out to the child.. Just the child! Nobody but She and GOd knows what she was going thru. Some ppl take their lives and some ppl just run away. We see this happenin in the USA but not here… why… Dominica is not bigg enough for a young lady to be missing for all those days!! Someone would have bound to see her by now. Nothing missing from her room! Nothing?!?! It just dont add up and it doesn’t make any sense!

This is a great opportunity to take a look at our road safety. The area where this child lives is secluded. She has to walk or wait for a bus to take her all the way to school on a deserted road all alone, where anything can happen. I know funding is a high issue in the country but we should take the extra precaution to keep children safe. There should be at least some sort of bus system that should be implanted to pick up children in that area where it is not the safe for a young child to be alone. This is just one thing that should be looked at in this situation.

I just hope that the police find this girl she is too much of an intelligent child to fall in this situation. I will always remember her in my prayers

Dear Jo-Ann, I will contact you as soon as possible. We have also set up and information page on SAT’s advertisement page. We would like to do so much more but with little resources, we are constrained, our efforts will continue until the young lady is located and returned to her family. Every minute counts and we would like to urge everyone to assist in any way possible and to make any information that they may have available to the Police and/or relevant authority or family. A young girl’s life is in the balance and we need all hands on deck and a collaborative, well coordinated approach.

There is one being who knows exactly where Shanice is.

There are a few believers who have a relationship with Him such that He, who promises to tell His secrets to His children, can ask Him where she is and what her condition is, and He can answer, if it pleases Him.

What if He does respond? What will be our reaction as a nation? Will we be grateful? Will we spend the rest of our lives in gratitude and in obedience or will we continue doing our own thing, irrespective of how He feels, convinced ourselves that whatever the life we live we must be right – without checking with Him whether we are right or not.

Or will we be happy with Him just for a while because we feel He has done what we want?

If God can find ten righteous in Dominica, may He spare our people. And as for Shanice, as with everything else, may His will be done. Always

It’s so sad that this young lady has been missing for so long and no one has heard or seen her. The Gov’t needs to request help from any of the neighboring Islands with their search Dogs if there is none in our beautiful Island. And if we do not have we should try to aquire at least two. These dogs are very helpful in searching not only for the living but for the dead and drugs. And one more thing rumor has it that the young man who disappeared soon after her might be linked to her missing. The powers that be should question his close friends and family

    February 26, 2011

People, looking for Shanice is every body business. Today is Shanice, but we must ask our self who’s next. We as dominicans must stand together with the police, and her family and put a plan together, as to how you are going to find this child. Always remember who ever is hoilding her, has his plan also . You are looking for her but he is waiting for you.
People the police can not do it by themselves. There are information you may recived that a police officer will never get. Why not put a number on line where people can call with information? Some may want to call family to give information as well.
We must find the child, and that criminal who perpetrated that act, must be brought to justice, and an example must be made of him. Sending a clear massage out there to others who think they can do the same thing and get away with it.
I feel so sorry for Shanice, and her family. I know how hard this is now, and how hard it is going to be for them. My prayers are with you all. To her family, I say, keep on praying and belive GOD. All the best and…ONE LOVE TO ALL

as i’ve said b4 after queen show n calypso king show,,,, every thing else should be put on hold to better use the resources of the police to go on a nation wide search for this young child,,, it is rather alarming that this can and will happen in our lil dominica,,,, it’s time we take our country back from the grasps of evil,,,, remove wrong,, put it in its rightful place and replace it with right,,,, shanice wherever u are i’m hoping u are safe n by the grace of God u’ll be found,,, and whoever this perpetrator is when found should be dealt with by the strongest arm of the law,,, i don’t care if it’s a relative home,,, by now anyone holding the child has committed a kidnapping n the only way to rid themselves of this is to go to the nearest police station and give a report,,,, i say that all child molestors or rapists whether proven in court or is simply charged should be fitted with a monitoring device,,, in developed countries people who have gone through the system n charged as a child molester are not able to go places of public or where children are situated,,, so hospitals, schools,, malls,,, residence areas etc etc are all off limits n can land them back in jail,,,, dominica is too small to have such restriction but at least we can have them fitted with a monitoring device for at least 5 years so that whenever some stuff like this would happen the police n investigators know where to find their prime suspects n bring them in for questioning,,, say what u want but if that’s the life one chooses then they should be willing to live with the repercussions

    • wesleyman
      February 26, 2011

I understand your sentiment, but sometimes we should read befroe we write, the truth is if someone is charged of a crime and is found not guilty, you cannot place any monitoring device on the, developed country or not, the police can keep a closer look at that person if they believe that that person was indeed guilty but was able to get away on some technically or just simply able to sway the judge or jury. Please understand that in democratic countries there are some things that make us vulnerable just for the purpose of maintaining our rights and freedoms, imagine if everyone who was falsely accused of a crime had to recieve the same treatment as someone convicted of a crime, where would the difference be? Please if you want to be someone who comments here frequently, get your facts strait, dont quote systems that you dont fully understand and please for heavens sake lets be progressive in our thoughts, prayers, and search for this child of God.

      • mouth of the south
        February 26, 2011

of course it would be wrong to place a monitoring device on someone who it’s been proven not guilty of the crime,,, whether by technicality or swayed the jury,,,, i think u have tried to put a spin on what i said again let me re-iterate n i quote “i say that all child molestors or rapists whether proven in court or is simply charged should be fitted with a monitoring device,,,” no where i had i said if the person was innocent or just mere feelings on the part of the prosecution,,,, someone where incriminating evidence has been brought forward should be given a monitoring device so as to not think of going at witnesses or interfering with the due court process,,, remember we are talking bout children who may be traumatized,,, not forgetting they may never fully recover,,,, they may never grow to experience what love is,,,, never grow to appreciate a real man or woman,,,, someone can’t be falsely accused of a crime n be treated this way,,,, there has n will be necessary incriminating evidence by witnesses and doctor reports,,, not forgetting the victim and plaintiff will be cross examined by prosecution n professionals,,,,, what i have said may be far-reaching for our primitive state but if these things are put in place then it makes our children safer,,,, do u think its fair for one to serve a 3 yr jail sentence for child molestation and can simply re-enter society like everything’s cooler than a fan,,,,, the psychology of most these individuals is one where they surely will commit the crime again,,,,, that’s why after they have served the term then should be fitted with monitoring devices for at least 5 yrs,,, they still have freedom but at the same time we should ensure that they keep from doin such crimes,,, anyone who feels that they can harm an innocent child and take away a child innocence forcefully is an animal,, a beast,,, evil in all his/her ways n should be treated as such until the have proven to us that they have changed,,,,, u take away one’s ‘life’ they u should be willing to give up urs as part of the punishment,,,,

AFTER QUEEN SHOW AND CALYPSO SHOW? Interesting……….
A 14 year old girl is missing.
      A criminal is also missing.
It is of utmost URGENCY to find this child.
Not after anything, but as soon as is possible.
The police are working with such limited resources to assist them in crime detecting.
A basic thing like finger print detection at a crime scene is unavailable.
Our drink and drive situation is laughable, no breathalysers, there are some check yourself kits available in petrol stations in the UK……..but our police force can’t get some.
So it would not be anything hi tech like monitors we would see in any near future.
So with our limited resources what we need are hardworking, smart, HONEST, creative, initiative, serious police men who are willing to go the extra mile in fighting crime. What percentage of the force do you think covers that??
