Executive Director of the National Development Foundation of Dominica(NDFD) Ronald Knight has said that the level of professionalism and efficiency here must be elevated, if Dominica is to compete in the new era of globalization and the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME).
Knight believes education is a fundamental factor to battling inefficiency and non professionalism.
“We should realize that we are not operating in a Dominican vacuum anymore and if we are to run with the big dogs and to be taken seriously, we need to continue educating ourselves,” he stated.
“One should not be satisfied with the stage that they’re at. As soon as you know everything you become complacent; new ideas, technologies come through and what happens- you get left behind,” the executive director said.
Knight’s comments were made at an NDFD graduation ceremony for students who participated in the institution’s Office Management Courses and Understanding Financial Statements Courses last Tuesday.
Knight advised the graduates to never stop learning, reading, and striving for the best.
The office management course focused on the standards to be set in organising an office and the fundamentals of office management.
The Understanding Financial Statements Course involved basic procedures involving financial statements.
