On Thursday the 9th of June, 2016 the North East Comprehensive School (NECS) hosted its first ever ‘Business Day.’
The event was organized by the school’s Business Department and sought to familiarize students with business documents, to assist students to competently complete business documents and to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to efficiently educate others in the completion of the business documents.
Resource persons from the Dominica Police Force, Dominica Social Security, Dominica Inland Revenue Department and the Marigot Cooperative Credit Union were present and delivered interactive presentations of a practical nature to students.
Students were also given information on the main duties and responsibilities of each business or department that was present and how the existence of the business or departments contributed to the residence of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Students were taught how to correctly complete the following documents;
1. Passport forms
2. Immigration forms
3. Emigration Forms
4. Social Security contribution forms
5. Application for registration as an employer and employee forms
6. Income Tax forms
7. Vehicle License forms
8. Deposit slips
9. Withdrawal slips
The activities were very successful and productive, by the end of the day students were exposed to the various documents used in conducting.
The Business Department at the NECS plans on making this an annual event as part of the school’s calendar, as we seek to better foster effective partnerships with the public and private sectors.
The department also wants to thank all the presenters who made this event a true success and is looking forward to continued collaboration as we continue in the holistic development of our students.
