Springfield Trading Limited in collaboration with the government of Dominica today launched Colgate Oral Health Month with a distribution of supplies in keeping with the observation to schools across the Nature Isle. This year’s observation is being held under the theme “Healthy Mouths for Healthy Lives.”
Oral Health Month is a national awareness program observed in October and targets persons of all ages, promoting proper oral health practices. The initiative was introduced to Dominica in 1998.
Colgate is distributed by Springfield Trading Limited.
This morning’s launch was also used to introduce the Bright Smiles, Bright Future program designed for second and third grade students. The initiative will look to provide teaching to students about oral health-care.
“Throughout the month of October we will again facilitate a series of dental checkups. Again, our objective is to reach a number people. We will continue this year with the sponsorship of dental talks on the radio and encourage the use of good oral heath,” said Natalie Sampson, general manager of Springfield Trading.
Contribution will also be made in cash and kind to the health ministry and private dental practitioners.
Some 3600 kits will be made available this year to the education ministry for distribution to both students and teachers. These kits contain guides for proper dental practices, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other items.
“All we are requesting is your full support and participation,” Sampson said.
The Ministry of Health has endorsed and supported both programs and will be holding dental examinations and other related activities.
You can just brush your teeth with water or add a little baking soda. It isn’t necessary to have “tooth paste.” It is the brushing action that cleans your teeth, not the toothpaste.
The floride in toothpaste is a waste product from industry. The floride component is toxic, so never eat toothpaste. It can make you very sick or even be fatal. It also does not protect your teeth from cavities. Keeping your teeth free from food particle build-up and sugar by just brushing and flossing daily can ensure good dental health and be inexpensive.
Tooth paste is another Madison Avenue sell that puts money into the pockets of Proctor and Gamble as well as a few other corporations. Do your homework.
@Tomas: I am rallying for people like you.
I have noticed that people who complain about the cost of toothpaste are the ones who don’t brush their teeth!!
Healthy mouths for healthy lives, and colgate so expensive that some persons cannot afford a tube? So what Colgate palmolive and Springfield doing.
the theme is ” Healthy mouths for Healthy lives”.
