Paul was elated that she won the Public Speaking Competition.

“I feel proud and I feel happy that I know my parents are proud of me and my school is proud of me,” she said.

She said he teachers as well as her parents helped in preparations for the competition.

“Always take time to study your books and also take time to go over the paper that you have to study in public speaking and to remain focused,” she stated.

The other participants were Asheal Valrose, who represented the Warner Primary School 4-H Club, Neo Davis of the Atkinson Primary School 4-H Club, and Brentwood Etienne representing the Delices Primary School 4-H Club.

The other schools which participated in the Chorale Speaking Competition were the Mahaut Primary School 4-H Club, San Sauveur Primary School 4-H Club, the Grandbay Primary School 4-H Club and the Paix Bouche Primary School 4-H Club.

4-H Coordinator, Shirley Alexander said the competition this year was on a high level.

“The youth officers have told me it was of a much higher level than last year,” she noted. “I love going around during that time in June listening to all the chorale speeches and I just wish that we could capture all of them.”

She said the students were very confident and comfortable with their speeches.

“In the chorale speech we saw a lot of excitement and you can just tell that with what they did on stage today they will hopefully become some of our future farmers of tomorrow,” she noted.

Since the activities were held under the theme, “Family Farming,” Alexander hopes the experience will allow the student to be involved in farming on a family level and also at school.

She thanked the parents, teachers, youth officers and principals for supporting the activities.
