Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has hinted that a youth parliament may become a permanent occurrence in Dominica.
Youths from all 15 secondary schools on the island and from the Dominica State College on Monday debated the advantages and disadvantages of a world of technology as part of activities in observance of Commonwealth Day this year, held last week.
When he spoke at the opening of the youth parliamentary session, Skerrit said the youth parliament should be held in Dominica outside of Commonwealth Day celebrations.
He noted the setting up of a youth parliament as a permanent fixture in member states of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) was one recommendation put forward at the Caricom youth summit in Suriname in February.
“…. I’ve asked them to forward to us a copy of their own process there to see how we could have it implemented in Dominica,” Skerrit stated.
