Purple Dragon students attain higher belt ranking

Students at the ceremony

Seventy-two students from the Purple Dragon martial arts school attained higher belt ranking at a grading ceremony recently.

Thirteen of these students were promoted to White Belt Rank 2, 12 to Orange Belt; 13 to Green Belt; 7 to Blue Belt; 5 to Purple Belt; 3 to Red Belt; and 3 to Brown Belt.

There were a few outstanding students who demonstrated excellent performance techniques. They include: Diamond Daniel and Shyanne Dewhurst who both attained Purple Belt Elite Warrior; Kervin Augustine who originally ranked an Orange Belt and skipped the Green Belt to attain a Blue Belt; and Abigail Antoine, Jodi Andrew and Malik Nickson all attained the status of ‘on target for Black Belt’.

Students will receive their new Belts at an official Belt Changing Ceremony in the near future.

Sensei Shannah Robin 3rd Degree Black Belt, who operates the Dominica Branch extends congratulations to all the students and encourages them to look deep within to continually improve their technique, discipline and to become good stewards in society.

The Purple Dragon Don Jitsu Ryu is one of the most practical, effective, and complete martial arts fighting systems in the world today. Modern in concept yet ancient in origin, Don Jitsu Ryu blends well with many of the traditional martial art style such as Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Jiu-Jutsu, Aikido, Weaponry, Kick Boxing and Yoga.

This fighting principle has established Don Jitsu Ryu as one of the world’s best.

Purple Dragon serves to provide a safe environment for individuals and families to learn effective martial art skills; practicing integrity, respect and determination to continually grow and better oneself.

Congratulations to all the students who graded, this is the types of positive vibes we need to read about our youth. Sensei Shannah, “A job well done” You are a true role model and inspiration to those kids. I sometimes ask myself how do you survive coming from an 8 – 1 teaching job to take up such a challenge daily, but when you are gifted and God is on your side you get the strength and determination to pull it through. I am proud of you as you have been helping quite a number of Dominica’s youth to remain focus and stay off the streets; you teach the importance of self-respect, discipline and how to become good stewards in society. Your humble nature will continue to see you through. Keep up the Good Work Sensei Shannah Robin, your hard work and determination is what helped you to accomplish that 3rd Degree Black Belt. Since I am already in my 40’s and the bones are aching I will not try for a Black Belt but I will seat back and support you whole heartedly. GOOD JOB and God Bless you and your Dojo!!!!!!

When i was in school i learnt a little nursery rhyme that went like this:
If you can’t say something nice
      SHHHHHH
      Say nothing
Take a bit of good advice
      SHHHHHH
      Say nothing
Think of friendly things to say that’s the path to follow
      When you think of unfriendly stuff;
      CLOSE YOUR LIPS AND SWALLOW!!!!!

Congratulations to sensei Robin, the managemment staff, parents, well wishers and most importantly the hard working kids on a job well done.

Kudos also to Professor jacob; a Trinidadian born world renown expert in this area and also a tremendous motivational speaker/firm disciplinarian.

I think our people, the government and all parents must get their kinds involved in this programme and as a result more branches must be established nationally ; around the country for this process. The government should assess the work of this purple dragon with the hope to give them a subvention , plus technical support. ‘

This will help keep our kids off drugs , make them more disciplined and make our country better.
Its not just karate their is so much more to be learnt.

    WELL DONE PURPLE DRAGON !

i support every word of your comment wholeheartedly and would give it 100 thumbs up if I could. we need more positive outlets for all this energy that our youth have. It’s because of lack of positive forms of releasing youthful energy that many end up in delinquent activities. i left the school many years ago due to certain circumstances but luckily I practised the art at a very crucial age which was indispensable in my formation as an individual. had I not been part of that who knows what kind of activities I would have gotten myself involved in
