Police on the north coast have organized a youth symposium on violence.
The event is scheduled to begin this Thursday morning at 8:30 at Cabrits and is expected to run for the entire day.
Police Spokesman Inspector Claude Weekes told Dominica News Online that the session will touch on conflict resolution, violence minimization, among other related topics.
Counseling will be provided for those in need at the session, Weekes said.
Head of the University of the West Indies Open Campus in Dominica Dr. Francis Severin is expected to address the session along with a magistrate and other resource personnel.
hmm them little gang members tht was having their gang war yesterday need to go for sure.!!!
MR WEEKES, WHAT YOU ARE SUGGESTING IS FINE, BUT I STILL SAY THAT IN ORDER TO CURB THE RISING CRIME AND VIOLENCE IN PORTSMOUTH AND IT’S SURROUNDING AREAS IS TO HAVE YOUR POLICE OFFICER BE MADE MUCH MORE VISIBLE THAN THEY ARE NOW. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO FOOT PATROL OFFICERS IN PORTSMOUTH. AND BY SO DOING THE CRIMINALS KNOWS WHERE THE POLICE OFFICERS ARE AT ALL TIMES AND SO THEY USE THE TIME GIVEN TO THEM WHICH IS ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT TO COMMIT THOSE CRIMES. YOU HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH POLICE OFFICERS AT YOUR PORTSMOUTH STATION TO STOP THE RATE OF CRIME AND VIOLENCE IN PORTSMOUTH.
THANK YOU.
This is a commendable initiative on the part of the organizers. Thank you and I trust that other communities will have the opportunty to benefit for such a forum.
stop wasting time. a child’s personalitly is already shaped by the age of 7. parents are the most important thing in an individuals life. i listen to late night radio talk shows where i hear big men in their 40’s and 50’s talking about their mother. how they’ve never felt loved. i will countinually say thet parent are the number 1 problem. it’s a vicous cycle. show me a good parent and i can bet that there is a 95 % chance that thier kid will be an upstanding citizen.
GOOD MOVE MR. WEEKES ..
