The West Coast Cooperative Credit Union (WCCCU) continues to demonstrate good corporate citizenship through its annual award and maintenance of secondary school scholarships to children and wards of members.
Each year, the society awards a student on the basis of merit to attend secondary school or for college education.
The West Coast secondary and college scholarships provide for text books, stationery, transportation (depending on the school she/he attends) and payment of examination fees for the scholars’ school life provided she/he performs creditably.
On Tuesday, August 11th 2015, the society awarded Grace Vidal of Morne Rachette, who was the most successful scholar among members’ wards and children at this year’s National Assessment Exams, the 2015 scholarship to attend secondary school for five years.
Continuing West Coast scholars, Chalika Vidal and Lanaya Townsend from Salisbury, who are now into their third and second years at secondary school, also received their text books and stationery for the upcoming school year.
West Coast is proud to join the national effort to make education readily available to our youth and to stand by our conviction that it is the main vehicle for development and success in all human endeavor. We are also pleased that this is another way in which we add value to the communities that we serve and to the quality of life of our members. We are delighted to have assisted a number of families over the years to ensure that their children are readily equipped with the necessary tools to perform at their best.
West Coast Credit Union congratulates our scholars and wish them success and achievement in their academic endeavors in the new school year.
