Eight to compete for Junior Calypso Monarch while five face off for Bouyon Monarch this Friday

 

As the much-anticipated date of January 26, 2024, approaches, a vibrant spectacle is set to unfold at the Carnival City (Stadium Forecourt) in Dominica. The stage is primed for an exhilarating competition where eight budding talents will contend for the prestigious title of the 2024 Junior Calypso Monarch, while another five will face off in the quest for the crown of the 2024 Junior Bouyon Monarch, presented by the esteemed Leo Club of Dominica.

The inaugural performer for the Junior Calypso Monarch competition is Camille-Rose Esprit, known by her stage name ‘Rising Rose,’ hailing from Pioneer Preparatory School. Following her will be Joshua Bernadel, representing St. Mary’s Academy who hopes to captivate the audience with his stage name ‘Burna Bread.’ The third spot features ‘King K,’ also known as Kaelan Matthew from SMA, while Niah Massicott, alias ‘Nifty Ni,’ will represent Portsmouth Secondary School.

Adding to the array of young talent, Tkwani Kowan Joseph, stage name ‘Prince Kwani,’ will represent St. Mary’s Primary, while Ojahro Philbert, known as ‘Mighty Kai,’ will showcase his skills on behalf of the Social Centre FOTA Programme. Convent High School enters the competition with Karishma Piper, stage name ‘The Piper’s Tune.’

The eighth spot in this vibrant lineup belongs to the reigning Junior Calypso Monarch, Tyce Faustin, popularly known as ‘Mighty T,’ who will also represent SMA and defend his title with prowess.

    I hope the bigger heads are listening 🎶 to the up and coming youth ,Dominica future. they saying it as it is without no contradiction. Dominica 🇩🇲 has got big talents .

    Good luck to all, enjoy the experience and make new friends, one observation however, why does SMA have three representatives for the calypso segment.

      The question would now be, should schools be limited to only 1 representative. I honestly don’t think so. In last years competition, some schools had 2 competitors. I believe it is an open competition for schools and any student wishing to compete can do so freely. Unless competition rules state differently, I stand corrected
