Two 17 year olds who performed a duet in the second annual Dominica State College (DSC) Got Talent Show, walked away with the top spot and the EC$ 1,000.00 prize.
Kaele Benjamin of Wall House and Baines Winston of Shawford Estate emerged victorious over their nine other competitors at the DSC new campus grounds on the night of Friday 19th June 2015.
“I felt great and content that we won,” Benjamin told Dominica News Online (DNO) the next day while her partner, Winston, said he felt, “very, very great.”
In 2nd position was Peter Codrington who took home EC$ 500.00.
Melanie Charles won EC$ 250.00 for placing third and Elisha Rolle who came fourth, received a EC$ 100.00 prize.
Other participants were: Evans Dalson, Kess Alexander, Julian Charles, The Catapa Family, Sherdica Moses and Linda Martin.
One of the Coordinators of the event, Joel Challenger, explained that the aim is to “pull out” the various talents-dancing, singing, rapping etc. within the college and provide a platform for exposing them.
“The competition went pretty good,” he said.
When DNO asked how exactly the duet intended to utilize their winnings, Benjamin said that she intends to become a Psychiatrist and will save her EC$ 500.00 share towards her studies.
“Every dollar counts right now.”
Winston stated that he is still trying to how he will spend his EC$ 500.00.
Challenger said he was pleased with the number of patrons which included students and staff of the DSC and members of the public.
I was surprised that the young lady Sherdica Moses who sang the Celine Dion song did not place her voice was amazing and with a few voice training she will be a future star..eyes are on her
