The performances of all but three artistes for this year’s World Creole Music Festival will be broadcast on local television and streamed via the Internet.
Events director of the Dominica Festival Commission (DFC), Natalie Calrke-White said the DFC is still working to secure permission from the remaining artistes in keeping with copyright laws. She declined to list the names of the three artistes.
“We have been getting permission from the artistes and their managers and we are down to three now,” she said.
The director added that when permission from those three is received, the DFC will then be able to communicate “with confidence” that all of them would be able to broadcast on the nights of the show.
“That is the privilege of artistes. Their copyright and permissions, we have to get them, otherwise the (local TV) stations will end up having to pay some serious royalties,” Clarke-White said.

Well well. One year to organize a fest and the full content of the event cannot be advertise a week before due date. Isn’t this the world reggae creole festival? Opps! The world creole festival? I thought the fest were suppose to be an event organize to promote our tourism industry by encouraging new and returning visitors to our shore. Well Dominicans like me is coming home but we eh going hotels or rent vehicles ,nor eat at fancy restaurants if any because we have to wine and dine with our families . yes we miss them so much. So if it was only local bands and a few soca band & artiste from the leewards and windward we would still come down . By the way arrow dead and gone without gracing the festival stage . i wonder if the festival committee is going to let sparrow, short shirt, swallow, David rudder, Becket, Winston soso, shadow, obstinate -even on weel chair , singing sandra and a few hall of fame artist Dead before making and appearance. There are a lot of elder people want to come and enjoy a night of sweet soca music .

NO ONE IS SAYING THE ARTISTS ARE NOT COMING. SHE IS SAYING THAT THEIR PERFORMANCES MAY NOT BE ABLE TO BE BROADCAST; FOR EXAMPLE, ON DBS OR MARPIN TV.
I would like the director to speak some “creole’..at the opening ceremony..shame on Dominica to have a none Dominican heading the festivals..this is meant to be “creole” not Trini. I am sure there is a qualify Dominican somewhere who can do this job ..people think of this……

it is one week before the festival and dey still waiting for confirmation from artiste? wat a shame i think that i could do a better job of running dis festival cause i know people who know people. Well we coming down for the shows need to know before or else i want a refund for my ticket
