LIME wishes to advise the general public that Monday’s schedule for the 11th Annual LIME CREOLE IN THE PARK (CITP) has been cancelled.
This is due to heavy rainfall on Sunday which continued overnight, adversely affecting the grounds of the Botanic Gardens making the area unfit for use at this time.
We are always cognizant of the effect the activity can have on the grounds of the Botanic Gardens and therefore this decision is in the best interest of all concerned.
LIME values the relationship we have developed and strengthened over the years with all our stakeholders. The Forestry, Wildlife and Parks Division of the Ministry of Agriculture is a major player whose best interest we must protect in maintaining the integrity of the Botanic Gardens.
LIME Dominica reassures its partners and patrons that the staging of the 11th Annual Creole in the Park we will continue as scheduled for the rest of the week through to Thursday.
We invite all patrons and visitors to enjoy the remaining activities.
i thought they say the rain stopped day 1, liar liar all lime pants on fire!! we have way more rain today and all of a sudden ms muffet on the radio saying the show has started and it must continue!! be truthful about the first day. ” THE STAFF DIDN’T PARTICIPATE IN SETUP” SO IT FAILED!!! TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE
What do you get when you mix Lime with Heineken? Shandy!!
Malgraysa.
Hello I like that one because its so true.
Lime spending all that money on fete at the same time they are sacking workers, who are fighting for a decent redundancy package? Something is not right.
wow no citp
Send down the rain Lord. Amen!
stupes. First it was the crappy lineup. NOw the first day has been cancelled due to “RAIN”?? Oh come on LIME.This isnt’ seating too well with the majority of Dominicans.
Rain falling stay in allu bed.if is a crusade all you would neva pwaysay to go so
Allu not easy nah (those who complaining) . LIME being so nice to only charge $5 for u to come and see how many artist perform. Be greatful and stop complaining for the slightest error
Nonsense. The tents were up nothing else was ready. Stop waiting to the last minute for everything. You reassure us that CITP will go on as scheduled the rest of the week. So rain only effects you on Mondays?!
Negative negative, alu glad the activity is npt happening and wishing for rain all week, when events such as this one is not organised u guys are the same set that saying the place boring, i wonder what can be done to please you ppl, lime good job in protecting the image and a peace of our nature site…
rain is expected on Wednesday and Thursday. So Lime didn’t know they have to prepare. If there were foreign bands, they would put more effort. So you mean tomorrow I have to buy today’s put away overs; I don’t think so. And they announced the cancellation so late. I think I’ll pass on the crab tomorrow wi.
Pay us wat we asking for LIME and staffs would have made sure the park was ready. Ppl dont believe that the park was labooie it only this part shown in the pic.
hey Lime if it’s an issue with rain every year then where is the proactive measures…why not consider the same setup they use in the stadium for creole festival where they put some type of covering on the grounds so the rain don’t affect the grounds..if u have the same problem every year why not do something to address it and stop thinking Dominicanish..address the issue alot of money is spending so do something
you cannot cover all of the bontanical gardens,
tthe number of people, walking through the gardens, would damage the area when the soil is so soft.
You think they cancel shows because the ground is damp in other places. Stop the backwards thinking.
You are correct. As I recall, a few years ago a pilgrimage was arranged in Ontario to visit a religious site for a prayerful gathering. The night before, it rained until the morning. On that Sunday, many people traveled from all over Ontario. While there we also walked up to other areas on the site. We had umbrellas, raincoats and rain bonnets. The ground was wet and soggy. By the time we walked on it, it got worst. The difference, we were there for a spiritual reason and no one was disappointed and complained. We were too busy praying.
Although it was not pouring rain except for a misty (slight) rain falling which I attributed to blessings, (I have never seen this type of rainy mist before which was unusual), it was uncomfortable walking in the mud.
A few days later a lady told me she fell and her clothes got dirty. I wonder how many people fell that day. Thousands of people were in attendance. Imagine us walking in the area which made the grounds muddier. We had to tread carefully. Our running shoes or shoes were a mess. The lower part of the slacks we wore was dirty; splashes and mud all over.
It just is not fun attending any function especially for entertainment when it is raining and the grounds are wet and soggy. In this case, it was better to cancel this function.
Have fun for the rest of the week. Hope it does not rain too much.
We expect rain in Toronto this week. No snow yet but who knows, anytime. So far thank God! Happy Independence Day and Celebration!
come on who’s talking about covering the entire gardens..u cover just the heavier populated area and where the trucks has to drive to bring the equipment also a walkway connecting all booths.
wish it would fall five days
It looks like mother nature boy cotting the Independence. Awwwwwwww am sorry (with a big grin on my face), take the lime to the bay front
So let the sunshine in
Take it with a grin
Smiler’s never lose
And frowners never win.
So let the sunshine in
Take it with a grin
Open up your heart
And let the sunshine in.
After the rain, the sun will shine. The rain must fall. We do not have control over it. It is not a boycott. Look at it positively. View it as a blessing in disguise.
Rain serves a purpose, to water the grounds, lawns or gardens. What would we do without rainfall?
Hello and good afternoon my people. Well the event is held at the Botanical Gardens which is an open location and we can’t control the climate. Even though I am not coming home I want our citizens to enjoy our local music so its nothing to rejoice about because the first day is cancelled. Now the photograph that’s attached to the article shows where the grass is being damage by vehicles driving on the grass. We must stop people from driving their vehicles on the grass so we can preserve the beauty of the Botanical Gardens. If they are vendors then they should carry their merchandise to their booth rather than drive on the grass.
People never consider this. The Botanic Gardens authority should inform them, if they are aware of it.
my people, charles savarin was going to be present, so b4 LIME suffer a dissappointment by boycott, they discarded the first day of CITP
Real nonsense!
Plan B should have been a change of venue to the stadium. Best wishes to all hope it’s a fun and successful Creole Season this year…. looking forward to joining the festivities soon!!!
lol lol
I hope those health people pass around by the vendors tomorrow to see if is not warm they going to warm those chicken they bbq already.
KAVAL
Even God on our side, hurricane have to pass over them festivities.
#Boycottmovement.
You have blasphemed, calling the Holy Name of God in vain and for your stupidity and wickedness. Watch out the hurricane does not pass over your house and inside it as your punishment. What you wish for others it will fall on you and twofold, good or bad.
Why are they driving on the muddy lawn of the Botanical Gardens? From what I can see the damage is already done! Nature Isle?
i agree… every year i go to CITP…and the mud doesnt have a pleasant smell.. how do you all expect the vendors to sell with that smell.. i dont wanna get sick becuz of that… and plus one day without sewo not going to take any of our lives….
i can understand if like had called off the live bands etc but people prepared their foods and drinks crabs etc for today and some of these foods can’t be served for tomorrow so they should have a quiet day today.let people come and eat and drink and really visit and enjoy the botanical gardens.
LIME
rain was never an issue in the past ..why don’t they get the ground covers like those used in the stadium to protect the lawn??
So if the wet grounds is the reason for the cancellation how can they already say the show will go on tomorrow when the rain has not yet stopped? The grounds will be dried in time for tomorrow morning? I can’t remember a rain free CITP. Why the integrity of the gardens was never an issue before? I think there is another reason for the cancellation especially because they did not say that tomorrow’s event will depend on the weather later today and tomorrow morning.
Every year the gardens have mud, what is limes excuse, they are not prepared simple
LIME is lucky it rained to give them an excuse. They started setting up quite early.. It’s simple: most staff are unable to work extremely hard as usual, sacrificing family time and working like crazy to get the place setup, to make the manager look good, knowing full well that they will be sent home soon.
LIME management expects staff to just jump up and work as usual, spending most likely hundreds of thousands of dollars on an event, while LIME does not want to compensate the same staff properly.. Ah Magwaysah!
Is god that punishing us fr putting savern as president… the hole independence have to flop…
Terrible planning on the part of lime. Have to account for rain. They are late on their preparations & using Sunday’s rain as an excuse. Citp is not only about the line up (which is a F this year) but about the event, socializing, the vendors, the foreigners, the d/cans here on vacation. More rain is forecasted for later in the week, lets see how lime handles it …
1st of all lime is bigger than creol fess and the fess have tile to protect the ground so why u guys cant get tile to.
thats the least u can do, u guys take millions from dominicans.
Damn it…fun suckers booo!! put that stadium (creole in the stadium)
Good thing I did not pay my passage
And come home it must rain for
World creole festival haha hrrrr heeee
Because u can’t buy a ticket 2 come home!!!!
Pwnage
bcuz you mak bomb for urs..
i like that lol,lol
Tall right here in Dominica. He never board a plane and maybe idle somewhere doing nothing but making negative comments on DNO. I hope you can pay your bus fare.
non sense u talking
We wouldn’t miss you
Fool
Good cll Lime… Saftey first and dat laboo smelling when people dance in dat.
Lime there is yet another Tropical wave approaching the region this week so by Wednesday/Thursday expect more rain.
Once dey start on Tuesday, action noh stop even doh roseau river flood. Trust Dominicans for a sewo.
Ha ha ha, is this the boycott beginning or P saverin laughing. WHY WHY WHY? IT happened before and did not stop it.
So every year except last year we have rain! All of a sudden yall cancelling? If there were foreign bands yall would say show goes on!
so u trying to say u want to damage that park just for alil jam!!! stupid ppl
you not making any sense. every year rain falling and allu DAMAGING the park. whats so special about this year. If there was a foreign artist rain or shine they would have it, why? contract is involved so whether artist played or not someone has to pay them.
Im guessing the heavy rainfall interrupted the setting up of equipment and all….if so good call LIME Dominica.
but allu driving allu vehicle on the lawn. wat allu expect. every year allu knw rain falling and allu not takin precaution.
Pure vandalism in the name of commerce and short-term gain. How long will it take for ths park to recover? How do you explain that to the tourists we boast to about our unique Garden?
Put some grass seed down & get over it
And what if it rains tomorrow too, and the following day?
look bowdell
they shud cancekl the whole week with all those stupid local noise makers that say they making music
Amen! Christians join the bandwagon as if is something to be applauded and commended. They no longer know where to draw the line.
Lamo!!
@ ashamed dominican u shud be ashamed at urself
WHERE IS PLAN b
We move it to Benjamin’s park, in Possie!
Plan B is to stay home
God is truly crying for Dominica but I’m sorry for all those who had hoped to make a few dollars today.
That sucks. Not in DA but everyone back home was looking forward to this. Nature, what can we do.
This is such bull…every year we get the rain and the mud…say you guys are running behind schedule with your preparations don’t give us story about rain and mud…we use to our rain and mud so if it rains tonight cancel Tuesday…hope it rains all week let me hear what LIME will say…It rained last year remember!
And do you know how long it took the ground to recover?knowledge is power.and for your information,if it rain for the rest of the week, they will call it off too,and YOU won’t die.
SO HAVE A NICE DAY TODAY.
i can see you were not here last year cause for your information last year we had sun.
seriously? big disappointment was so looking forward to day one /….the foreigners, the food , the bands , meeting friends and family sad…. so if there is rain for the rest of the week ? then no citp ? i would guess //….
In my opinion Creole in the Park was cancelled today due to the fact that Lime did not get their act together. This morning in the Park they were still setting up. Lime please get your act together, the Vendors are being asked to pay quite a high fee and to have a day cancelled will impact quite greatly on their taking.
this is the new lime.very disorganised.very unprofessional.very unreliable.very disappointing.
fool… you didnt notice all the rain yesterday? the people most likely had to try to prevent damage to the equipment ect. give them a break, things happen. don’t be too quick to put a negative impact forward
We used to the labou wi LIME, What allu trying na?
Them people lying , they laid off there workers and now they struggling. is not anything to do with the weather, look at outside now, sun so damn hot it can peal your skin. Lime all you just full of crap, put people pre festival back on.
I smell a rat!
You are obviously unprepared that is why you cancelled creole in the park today. Get the right fit in the right departments and everything will run smoothly for you.
SMH
Rain???????? what year this event is not associated with rain????? thats an excuse becuz the park is not fully set up so rain is the excuse….fool people but you all cannot fool me…..so if rain fall tonite what happens tommorow….anotha cancellation…smh
I wish Dominicans would understand what is going on before they talk. the grounds are soaked from yesterday and making the gardens uncomfortable for use.
there are food vendors at CITP and working with food in mud runs a high risk of food borne illnesses. The weather report shows thunderstorms and rain today so the little sun we see outside could mean nothing.
Instead of laughing and making comments like “we accustomed to the labou” let’s hope the weather holds up so that the vendors who are working hard to give good food and great items for sale can at least make back some money for their loans and what not
Well price of food will go sky high!!! a crab-back might be $40.00 instead of $20.00 from last year…what a ting!!!
But this has happened every year since CITP has been around. There has always been mud in the park. They taking our money to help with the maintain the gardens because they have to alot of work to do after thousands of people walk up and down in the mud for 4 days. Now laboue cancelllllling CITP!!! Rubbish.
Am happy and sad at d same time. I wont be missing out on nothing today.
why? we all know that our weather here in Dominica is unpredictable. Dominicans as well as Non-Dominicans is accustomed with wet grounds and (LABOUE).It’s very sunny today let’s go head. ‘Never leave today for tomorrow’.
when the grounds get damaged will you pay to have it fixed…let the sun dry up the grounds today .
Dominicans is accustomed with wet grounds and (LABOUE). it has nothing to do with that .
Lets roll like pigs in the mud
its “sunny”? it’s still raining. Plus its not about the sun being out. Its about “maintaining the integrity of the Botanic Gardens”. If you don’t understand English, people walking on the wet grounds will ultimately uplift both mud and grass and destroy the lawn.
no lady c sot u sot u asking why so what if we know the weather, we holding this event in the BOTANICAL GARDENS dont u think with all the mud etc we being there will just make matters worse on the ground? mechant!!then after when ppl say aa the gardens looking so or it so or so u will be the first to comment with ur sotness some dominicans have no damn foresight u hear lady c just come talking crap be considerate to the same land that attracts tourist is not the laboo that attracting them one more time – sot
what happen, you that sweff a sewo?you rather distory the beautiful gardens for a ti sewo?
get over that you will be alright.
lol. omg
