Former two-time calypso monarch in Dominica Gregory “Karessah” Riviere is the winner of the first ever Cooperative Calypso competition.
Riviere won with a song entitled “The Cooperative Spirit” from a field of 14 competitors at the Harlem Plaza on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
2012 Q Talent Show winner, Rachel Jno. Baptiste placed second and 2012 Junior Monarch, Janae Jackson, came third.
Other competitors included the Bobb, Manhimself, Vigilante, Beno, Checko, Swallow, Big Jeff and QTS finalist, Leona Peters.
Why are the crowns so big? Don’t they measure the heads?
Congrats to the organizers.. I think they did an excellent job!!!! keep it up.. some public servants still have use..
I CANNOT BELIEVE DEM PPL ROB BIG JEFF SO. DE MAN CLEARLY DESERVED THAT CROWN. WEH WEH WEH PAPA. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP BIG JEFF. NATIONAL MONARCH WILL BE YOURS COME FEBRUARY
Admin, you like to delete me comment. Bob sand coshony and expecting to win. How he expect to sing against cooperative. Doh delete my comment. i warning you.
go karessa u were always the calypso king. u talk and sing like one big up big time
But caressah when u going n live young pple strike to gain something in the industry. That’s y I like dice he doesn’t mingle in these petty shows, live this for the up coming calypsonians.. I belive janea deserved this crown.
Put it in your pipe and smoke it…..Karessah is King. Every calypsonian including Dice was invited to participate…They could not get a song.. you should have written for them.. Karessah does his own writing and he can manage any topic…Big up king!!!!!!!
When are you going to understand “Calypso is big man ting?”
I am looking at all the other competitors:
Rachel Jno. Baptiste, the Bobb, Manhimself, Vigilante, Beno, Checko, Swallow, Big Jeff and QTS finalist, Leona Peters. Besides Leona Peters all the others are stalwarts. Nothing wrong with Janae participating however she came third. Congratulations Janae, however they did not advertise it as a Junior calypso competition.
Go Karessa! Keep running things!
Go Trinidad and look at who is competing. When are you all going to stop this nonsense about too old for Calypso? Caressah is just about 40 yrs or so, I am 41 and don’t you dare call me old
The competition is open to all adults. Go back and check when the Mighty Sparrow was still competing. Let the young ones take their time and mature too. They don’t have to feel bad if they dont win overnight. ‘Ai ai. What you want nor, little spoil brats calypsonians who can’t wait to mature in the art form?’
Congratulations Karessa. On another note, This Minister is very cute!!!!
Which minister u talking about here noh? U need to visit ‘For eyes’. Lol!!!
Caressa who had a high media presence leading up to the competition, always sounded like the frontrunner since his sound had a lot of DEPTH.
yeap..i knew you were the winner from the moment this was organised,..BIG UPS!!!!!
cngrats Greg, you truly are a king, looking forward to carnival 2013..good luck
Congrats to the winners. Rachel,go girl, keep reaching for the sky. Don’t forget to give God the glory and thanks. He has given you this talent so use it wisely.

You mean Janea beat all these big calypso names, hmmmmm! Keep it up girl and COngratts Caressa. Dominica’s got talent

I am on cloud ninty nine for both Gregory Riviere ” Caressah” and Rachel Jno- Baptiste way to go I cam’t wait for Canival 2013 especially for Rachel girl you a on a roll and I’m following you all the way
So all calypso shows is the same thing? Karessah sang a verse twice and admitted he did that yet he won. Judges please pay attention and listen before making your final decision.
what boy rachel doi win hmmmm anyways 2nd place is still great congrads!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!! Gregory has a great skill in representing issues in song.
karessa u well know u faux pas,, but is NOT U. is the judges,, sa ou kay feh?
faux pas doesnt mean he cannot sing .alyou too like to judge people by their mistakes.smh
Faux Pas or not…. 50% of karessah performance on that night was enough to give him the crown. Lyrix, melody and presentation he was 150% ahead of the rest… This man is on a momentum you better watch out…
