The Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) and LIME on Monday staged the Queen Show Pre-Show to a full house at the Arawak House of Culture.
Contestants appeared in four segments; swimwear, casual wear, evening wear and interview.
In the interview segment, contestants interacted with host Kamala Jno Baptiste-Aaron as she quizzed them, conversation style, on details included in their biography.
Based on the responses of the contestants, organizers said they may explore this format for the Miss Dominica pageant as contestants seemed more relaxed and better able to answer the questions posed.
The Queen Show Pre-Show is designed to give contestants their first feel of the stage in front of a large audience as they prepare for the National Queen Show, carded for February 17th, 2012.
The contestants are: Kimberly Jno Charles of St. Joseph, Fancille Lavinier of Pichelin, sponsored by the Bullseye Pharmacy, Nadira Lando of Bataca/Pointe Michel, Ameka Cognet of Elmshall, Indiana Griffith of Goodwill and Shanel Dubique of Petite Soufriere.

On the issue of makeup there is no competition there. Dark skinned girls do not require a lot of colors over their eye lids or blush period. Black skin is in a league of its own so very little in terms of color is required. Black people do not blush period but may require a high light on cheeks or cheek bones. So dark girls embrace your natural beauty and limit all this colors to match your clothes. Ashy dark girls who are not dark or light may require a bit of color on the cheeks. All this different colors were over done on the eye lids of many but none the less they are pretty girls and they look good.

Aye aye but honesty hurts! Well anyways I waiting for DNO to post some new pics. Its high time Kamala stop interviewing and start chaperoning cause her style is always on point! I don’t think you will notice one ounce of under arm deodorant or hair under Kamala’s arm when she’s wearing sleeveless attire. I sure Kamala remember to lotion her ashiness unlike some people in the above photograph, Kamala and all dem other queens contestants shannon, giselle and off course the best marcella larocque all had top game even before the show. Pre show or no pre show you come on stage from day one you should be on point. There’s no way I would ever have gone on a stage without having being 100% on point. Head to toe! Dominicans have a nasty habit of accepting mediocre appearance and calling it style. Oh I forget on my favorite contestant I seeing some long acrylic lets chop those down. All dem la pointe people that being agressive on Dno need to go back by the bay and make noise cause nobody said Lando was ugly. But the deodorant under her arm is sure is unsightly.

You are right about that deodorant, otherwise, the girls look stunning. DA has beautiful women. I love the pearly white teeth and sexy bodies. God is a great master sculptor. We admire the sunrise, the sunset,the mountains and the waterfalls; so why not hot bodies. Otherwise, the women might as well wear burkas like muslim.

Francille and Kimberly are beautiful girls and ones to watch on the night of the pageant.Remember Karmala won in her time and Wendy in the Miss Universe. ummmm… I never said I was for light skinned girls or black girls. Someone made an inference below and I felt compelled to put the person on blast because they know exactly what they were trying to do. I support all types of girls dark skin or light skin. Once they’re women I support. I’ve nothing against light skinned women got a tone of that in my family and friends. But the attire and the grooming standards in them pics yeah a hot mess! Step it up.

Let’s try to give positive feedback please. So the underarms need to be wiped, the makeup needs some work, a few spots on the legs here and there, some girls need a bit of toning…..but my God, this is the pre-show!! A work in progress. Hats off to the Queen Show Committee!

The girls did great for a pre show. I find they looked well too. Ameka stood out for me. Most relaxed and graceful in her evening wear and best response to question. Also her makeup was flawless!

I guess its okay to have chalks of deodorant under your arm on stage, walking around with your private area showing through your cheap bathing suit. good vibes but i think that the interview vibes not going down well. what happen dey trying to make it easier for the ‘air heads’ to win? being able to answer questions is an essential part of determining intelligence having the girls sit down and chat about their biography does not match up. tell kamala let the girls have their lime light is not about her anymore she had her turn. let intelligence reign not just beauty!!!

To the queen show committe! Please do not engage the girls in this conversation style interview at the Ms.Dominica pagent. We want a representative that will go out and represent D/CA regionally & Internationally at the shows, and will stand on their feet listen to the questions and answer them intelligently. The interview style interaction was good for the pre-show but if the intention is to represent DA out there, then we should stick with the Q&A, which is the format for all the regional pageants.
The girls’ make up needs work.Too many blackk lined eyebrows and the eyeshadow on the girls need work. Remember to use hd makeup on the girls because the lights on the stage and the flash of the camera gives their face a(washed out) ghostly look.
I agree some of the makeup needs work but from the pics there are about 2 of the girls whose makeup is on target. Ameka Cognet is one for sure. Look at her eyes, cheeks and lips!! Beautiful.

The truth as hard as it is to accept…most women who represent for miss universe and make it are light in compexion and even if they are dark have some sort of caucasian features. She does have that look and yes it means she does have the look to enter Miss Universe.
To add to my previous post..I am not saying that it is right but that’s just how the world works. If you are light skinned with caucasian features you’re appreciated and accpeted more in this world of beauty pageants.

I agree with some of the writers comments and it’s not putting down the ladies they are very lovely ladies but they should look at the tape and see where they should improve on their performances they all need to do much much better some of the out fits want that bad but they could be better I am proud of the ladies and I know when the time comes they will do a much better job right now I cannot choose any one thus far but if changes are made it will be diffecult to pick a QUEEN so I wish all the ladies the very best

This is a show that reduces women to public property. How can any sane people allow women to wear a “swimsuit” that shows practically their vaginal linings? Where is the dignity of our women?
The swim suit wear should be removed from the show. The interview/questionnaire, evening wear, talent rounds are within “Christian” standards.
