Christel Durand, 20 of Castle Bruce has won the 2015 MayFest Title.
Durand outperformed five other contestants at a competition, held at the Marigot Fisheries Complex on Saturday 2nd, May to secure that title.
She also received the awards for Best Talent, Miss Intelligent and Best Creative Wear.
Davia Joseph, 17 of the Kalinago Territory secured the first runner-up position and copped the awards for Best Evening Wear, Best in Evening Wear and Best Swim Wear.
The second runner up position went to Nakisha Joseph 18, of Wesley.
Candice Simon of Marigot grabbed the third runner-up spot, while Aquenel Victorine, 20 of Goodwill won the award for Miss Photogenic and Kimberly Pioche, 18 of Calibishie won the Miss Congeniality award.
Last year’s MayFest Queen was Patrice Dorsette.
“We had a very successful event this year,” Promotional Coordinator for MayFest, Alvin Alexander told DNO on Tuesday. “Right now we plan ahead to Reunion 2016.”
According to him, the Mayfest activities surpassed expectations for the member of the organizing committee.
“The turnout of Dominicans supporting the event, we are always grateful that Dominicans are willing to move from wherever they are in the country and be a part of our activities,” Alexander said.
He stated that the event began with a village bar lime on Friday 1st May, followed by a Band Splash on Sunday from 10pm. Performers came from the First Serenade Band, Triple Kay International, Swinging Stars and WCK .
Dj Flip was the main DJ for Sunday (May3) night activities.
On Monday, the Family Fun Day featured two of Petite Savanne’s best bands.
“It gave families the opportunity to have fun with their parents,” Alexander stated.

NONESENSE, what kind of pageant is that. The winner cannot walk upright and she is thick and stiff. Worst, the same group of people from Castle Bruce who trained her, three of them were used as judges at the show. woyyooo. Everyone knew the Kalinago sister won. But three of your trainers were judges.. what you expect. Everything in this place is cheating.. and let us find other ways for our young ladies to express themselves. enough of these stupid pageants.
I can bet that none of these girls got a $1500 for the hard work and effort they put into this show, much less for the winner. It’s a disgrace on the so called mdc.
