Organizers of the annual crab fest held last weekend in the Community of Gallion have said it was a success.
The festival which is held annually between November month end and early December kicked off with a hike from the first segment of the Waitukubuli National Trail from Scotts head to Soufriere Estate, with the actual festival on Sunday 2nd December 2012.
Among the various dishes were crab paleau, crab calalou, stew crab and crab backs. For the patrons who did not favor crab but wanted to join in the festivities or simply wanted variety, there were other treats consisting of pork, chicken and fish.
Speaking to DNO one of the organizers said more will be done in the coming years, to improve the Crab Festival.
“We could begin by sensitizing the people more and getting more sponsors on board,” the organizer said.
He said the event was not without its challenges.
“The challenge of the road network is a major setback affecting the Gallion Crab Festival as well as the issue of parking space; but I’m hopeful that come next year these problems will be dealt with,” he said.
