With the aim of providing more promotions and exposure for young and upcoming local artistes, organizers of the 2008 success, Creole in the East, will hold a repeat this year.
Dubbed ‘East Fest 2010’, the event is carded for November 6 at Marigot.
In a statement to the press recently, the producers said the undertaking would also look to shine the spotlight on not only individual performers but also bands “and those artists who are striving for proper marketing and exposure in the entertainment industry”.
The official launching ceremony will be held shortly at the Harlem Plaza.
East Fest 2010 adds to the list of creole activities leading up to Dominica’s Independence day.
These activities intensify today with the launch of the 8th annual Creole in the Park and rolls over to the 14th annual World Creole Music Festival at the Windsor Park Stadium.
I wishto commend the orgainizers of Creole in the East (EAST FEST) on staging yet another event. I urge you to continue to work towards making Creole in the East a sustainable annual fringe event of the World Creole Music Festival. I agree that the event will continue to serve as an outlet for budding artistes as well as the experienced wishing to expose their talent. I also believe that EAST FEST could be transormed from a one night event into a weekend event that would give families an opportunity to enjoy day time activities as well that will feature the cuisine of the east, as well as the arts and craft, day tours to areas with scenic appeal and historical value. The entire east coast has so much to offer that if well packaged Creole in the East could serve as the catalyst to grow the East’s fledgling community-based tourism sector. The east of Dominica has tremendous historical and cultural heritage capital and I urge Local Councils in the East to begin to look more seriously at taking advantage of opportunities that Community-based Tourism can bring to east coast communities starting with Creole in the East…
no matter where the fest is held or what name it is called peopl e from all over DA go to it , that is what is important

They are not bought or cunned as many other parts of Dominica who fall for small issues of shoots of rum a few hundred dollars and a crooked smile…
Marigot folks are tough folks and dont bend to foolishess…..typical exp looking the the night landing showcase at melville hall if it was a cult setting many would have fallen..

the most successful creole in the east ever was held in marigot in 2006. So much so that all outstanding bills from the two previous years were paid. The organising committee comprised only villagers of marigot.

@mia: if you want to exclude marigot why are you including delices?
check your map delices is in the sout east of dominica and marigot is in the northeast. if marigot isn’t qualify to host the event then delices certainly isn’t qualified either. if you knew your cardinal points those are all communities on the eastern side of the island.
for all of you idiots talking about what marrigot doing in the east fest, go do some geography. its in the northeast so i far as i am concerned it forms part of the east. all you labourites to bad. why don’t allu go talk about all the armed robbery thats occuring as a result of incompetent governance. go talk about th corrupt regimn we have rulling dominica and let marigot be. and im not from marigot.

I am so please to see that the village of MARIGOT is getting some well deserved attention I always said that regardless of party politic we are all DOMINICANS I applaued the organizer keep up the good work by putting people first and if the Fisheris complex is not the place what about Londonery park that could be considered also.

8-10,000 patrons easily on their fisheris complex…
