Daina Matthew, an economics and literature major, emerged winner of the second edition of the Miss Dominica State College (DSC) Mass Jamboree pageant on Friday afternoon at Harlem Plaza.
Matthew swept the awards – best talent, best creative costume, best evening wear and best question and answer.
Zethra Baron, a psychology major, was awarded first runner-up while Normanna Jno Baptiste, who majors in nursing, was awarded second runner-up.
Other contestants were: secretarial major Ann-Marie Cornelius; Dwannella James who is enrolled in the tourism program; Jernelle Jno Baptiste who studies biology and information technology; and Terisa Lewis, who majors in architectural technology.
The winner of the pageant will be awarded a scholarship from the DSC which will cover their full tuition as well as gifts and prizes from sponsors.
The intention of the pageant, according to organizers, is to use the DSC as a breeding ground for the national queen pageant.
Michelle Joseph, a contestant in the national queen pageant which concluded Friday night, was the 2010 Miss DSC Mas Jamboree.
The event was organized by the Student’s Services Department of the institution.
