DFC events coordinator says adieu

Events Coordinator of the Dominica Festivals Commission (DFC) Natalie Clarke has confirmed that she will be leaving that post and taking up a new appointment at local radio station, Kairi FM.

Tourism Minister Ian Douglas had earlier this week said that Clarke would be leaving the post and that “we are now looking for a new Events Coordinator…”

Clarke said coming to Dominica was always on her “bucket list.”

“When the opportunity came to be of service in one of my passions-EVENTS…I decided to go for it,” she said. “2010 to 2014 has been one full of interesting challenges, however it was a journey I would do all over again because it was worth it.”

In a very emotional interview with DNO, Clarke thanked the Dominica Cabinet, the board of Discover Dominica and Dominica Festivals Committee, members, CEO and staff of both offices, “Sub Committees and Stake holders of all the events from World Creole Music Festival, Carnival and Jazz n Creole and everything in between… the Media here, regionally and internationally.”

“How could I not mention Jeff Joe, God rest his soul, along with Wadix Charles and Nikima (Royer) who understand the marketing and promotional aggression one has to take on when seeking to get your event product out there,” she said. “It was really special working along with you all…”

She thanked all village councils and cultural groups “who always come out” to support events of the DFC.

“I will perhaps be able to now join in the fun as opposed to staying on the outside, checking lists in the back of house domain,” Clarke said. “Thank you for making my job a pleasure even on the hard days and nights because you gave me the pleasure of your creativity and the distant voices of my African ancestry in full view. Total food for my soul. Thank you.”

Clarke also took time out to thank the service providers who, she noted, “felt the lash of my tongue when we were out of timeline and over budget, yet witnessed the beam on my face, hugs and love when things got done in the correct manner. ”

“I say a huge thank you for bearing with me,” she said.

She had high praises for the the vendors, supporting casts, artistes, bands and characters and many others who made events like the World Creole Music Festival what it is. “I thank you for allowing me to witness your growth and development and being a part of your world,” she noted.

Clarke said she will be going back to “my media and marketing vibes” and will be staying in Dominica.

“I’ll be on island and I will certainly be around,” she pointed out. “Change is something I love.”

She takes up her appointment at Kairi on June 12.

You claim you love your job so bad and is willing to do it all over. I just do not get it. Some truth are not being told.
Personally this government puts everyone in top positions under intense pressure and I would be surprised if that is just the case. I cannot understand why one would leave a prestigious position and substitute for a less prestigious one.
One thing I can say is that they know when the dust is settled they do not want to be called as they who brought it here. Dominica is at it’s cross roads. DBS needs a new manager, Marpin is under going a salary cut, Domlec manager left to take up a new job in Grenada, S,A.T sold it shares, Brisbane close down it major outlets, Police officers suffer a NO salary increase, Events coordinator left, Public Works cannot get a chairman. Government ministers getting Richer!!! Change Must Come- I cannot wait.

Thanks for your service while we appreciate you and welcome you. We cannot ignore the events and the changes that are taking place. Good luck in your new digs just maybe while at it you might have more to say and we will welcome any information coming from you in this silly and 0% season just may be you sense the ship is sinking so you jump off early. if it turns out to be the case more power to you Nathalie. Incidentally, you said you always welcome “Change” is that your true feelings? or you`re sending a messages to the “RED” Hot!! #### Government? They change the date for the W.C.M.F. and shove it down our throats and look at what happenings. Thing are falling fast and furious. Camar.is a bitch! I sensed that there is much more to come, so we go see: Hope young bull gets the position he once held and in my opinion he did a good job while he was at the helm. The only problem with Young bull is, ” HE MUST SPEAK”. That might set him back. I sincerely hope it does not prevent him for getting his job back. Our festivities are taking a hit, because evert thing is upside down, Every thing is inside out. If I didn’t know better. I would say they will make an offer to our Law officers of 1%, 1% 1%, & 0%, 0%, if they are crazy to accept such an insult, its back to work for Election date will be announced sooner lather than later. The beat continues stay tuned.

I guess a girl has to do what a girl has to do, but some how I think their is something strange about that move, I would hate to say sinister (remember silly season is in full swing).

Well Natalie, you going from the frying pan into the fire. Maybe you are replacing Kamala so she can go to GIS and Nki gets her wish to organise events, like she supposedly did when she was in Canada. A game of musical chairs perhaps? The music don’t change, only the people but same music.

Thanks for telling us. I am surprised though. It was only in Oct. of 2012 she was appointed with all bells ringing and the orchestra playing crescendo and now she seems to have departed without a whisper. What happened? Did she get another appointment?

I can’t imagine Kairi FM can match her current pay.

Anyway, I nominate my boy Felix Augustine for this post of Event Coordinator of DFC. Talented and leadership skills in a package.

Who would want to work with this man come on!!!! Nathalie is a people’s person so someone with a great personality like hers and the marketing skills and musical skills. Wadix Charles is the man for that 100% great attitude, knows his stuff when comes to the musical arena and he got background knowledge on the Creole Festival he is right in our eyes lets not do any more soul searching and hire him.
