Chairman of Dominica Festivals (DFC), Colin Piper says a board meeting next week, will decide how officials should address a financial dispute with some entertainers who were dissatisfied with their cash prizes.
Chester Daddy Chess Letang and Carleen Xavier, prize winners of the Soca Monarch competition are furious about what they consider a significant chop in the prize monies they have received for their efforts.
“We are going to go back to the drawing board. We have a board meeting on Tuesday where we will bring the issues before all the committee members. At that point I think a repositioning will come about and we will be getting to all the affected parties,” he said.
Piper said the media is not the place to discuss the matter.
He was speaking on Kairi’s Heng program.
piper you need to go, where shoud they voice there frustration, when the jamaicans come to dominica you all pay them big money, but the locals suffer,go to jamaica or you will never hear a jamaican playing our music.respect your own.

Well! Well! Well! if it was the Bull, there would be no water to help wash him down. God is a good god.
That is where it hurts the most, in the pockets. Dominica reach a stage where some artists, musicians, calypsonians and so, no longer will chant down that rotten system or to sing against the corruption and other ills, and illegalities facing the country. For some of those artists Skerritt, DLP Govt. are their gods who could do no wrong. They now boldly and openly comment and really believe themselves that there is too much politics in calypso. What absurdity? They can’t stomach the criticisms against corruption and Bad Governance.
mr need to go taxi drivers booed him on the bay front maybe is not his fault ho look 51 percent soft
DFC new approach of dealing with its stake holders is unfortunate… But in time I am sure they are going to climb on the wrong prickle tree…You cannot make such a decision and never inform the artist before… This wrong!!!
why have so called Proffessional folks in Dominica brought this island to the gutter and the laughing stock of the globe…
im of the firm view that the educated folks in dominica have contributed worst to the ingnorant downfall of this island…
those who are educated are very foolish and caught up in their ego…
dont think dominicans can handle having a education they suck to the bone!!
im extremly dissapointed at your Mr.Piper,,a Pro doesnt handle issues that way… you seem so un impressive in your delivers in all aspects…you way to timid and lack any sort of creditability! what a shame..you and your DFC have made this ugly stuff stinks..
The DFC caught with their chillot down. Ou feh bien Daddy Chess. As far as I know they never short pay the artists invited from overseas.
Ha ha ha!! You are so right. I worked in Creole Fest from the beginning when it was in Carnival City/Grammar School grounds till a couple years back. I remember clearly in one show in Pottersville, Carimi refuse to go on the stage before they get the second half of their pay. The person that was in charge then, come to the bar to get money to pay them. Then I hear him no radio saying bar not making money. These people have no conscience. Is only Dominicans they can do like that.
@DPM – i so agree with u… my thoughts exactly, all oversees entertainers get all their moolah, why dey think dey have to short-change our great
local entertainers, dey not worth all dey money eh?!. …..
you go Chester!!
If it was the Bull that had do dat you would hear the press and Dominicans. But God not a Police.
awa awa dat one just not right…..DFC needs to give jack his jacket and give jacqueline her lipstick…………so if daddy chess didn’t say someting dey really woulda had to settle for a cut in d cheque?? He make right doh sign it………dose pple dere too dam well impossibel….and den allu want to send pple dat tief a bockle of oil 4 years jail?? so who have to take d punishment and d shame in dis case?????????? ehh piper??
Why is it our officials in high office always seems to think that the media shouldnt be involved in exposing shady doings. Is it that they know they cant get away with it if it hits the media??? I wonder
If the artist had gotten his money there would have been no media talk.Jah bless the media.le ou vle moune respecte ou,ou ka ba moune la, sa I twavaii pou.pay or face the media.no respect for the artist but some living big from music without sweating.let the world know they shortpay you.damn right.touch them where it hurts, cause they hurt u.respect!
Well, I think a thief was caught and is now making peace. If nobody had spoken, DFC would have stolen the peoples money in broad daylight. SHAME!!
Shatta Everytime i see your name on the commets, i know u going to say something Funny to make me laugh. I know deep in your Heart you love Bath estate and the cocaine. When ever i want to release my stress i look for your comments.
Haha I agree with you…some of these people take things too seriously…I personally take my kixs whenever I see his comments..lol
How can DFC unilaterally cut the prize money. There may legitimate reasons to reduce the payout, but it they first had to get the performers to buy into it. Did they think they were dealing with children? How unprofessional.
at least say some thing after people work so had put on a show cant get wat is theirs. at least tell them can just take every body money. a thousand dollars all u have for me
Don’t address us pay those people there dues,I am fed up with talk in dat country time for action.bath estate on cocaine
So who have the rest of the prize money the contestant
did not receive? Tell us Piper ’cause you are going ‘back to
the drawing board’ to change the ‘picture’..
No not the picture the pay out hopefully
Well shatta you really have me cracking lol
Shatta u not making no sense but u make my day
wat nonsense mr saying dere na
i sure he will not take a cut in salary
dem man doh care
dey only sittin in dere big office n get dere fat check
we need responsible ppl to manage da’s affairs
I am sure that mr. Piper does care! if the truth be told the DFC is an institution he inherited and would rather be without so that he can concentrate on increasing the number of stay-over visitors.
