Dominica Can Dance semi-final tonight!

DCD dancers in action

18 contestants will be strutting their stufff in the semi-final of the “Dominica can Dance” (DCD) competition tonight at the Arawak House of Culture .

Among those who will be attempting to dance their way to the title of Dominica’s “Best Dancer” are Bree, Stranger, Muchachos, Dat Shat Dancer, Laroussa, B-Free 2, Peppa and Ras Simple.

But these eight are expected to face tough competition from Sensual Dancer, Swagger G’Z, Sprager, Ras Simple, What…yea!, B-Free, Workupes, Linx Master and Jude & Clemn and if the performances of the DCD finalists match the creativity of their names, then patrons at tonight’s show can expect something special.

Contestants will be vying for a first prize of $5,000, a chance to participate in a regional competition and handsets from LIME.

“Judging from the preliminary show on August 25, the audience is in for a treat as rehearsals intensify and contestants up their game,” say DCD organizers.

They are encouraging the public to continue to text their votes because those votes will be added to the judges’ scores at the semi-final to determine the 10 finalists.

They say the number to text using LIME phones is 2269 and voting continues until tonight.

Below are some photos of DCD competitors in action.

Performers like Bree, B-Free 2 (same as B-Free with Bree) are great. The show brings together a wide range of talent and serves as an excellent platform for developing the obvious raw/natural talent. Well, I do not know what is the talent in the acts of Peppa and Ras Simple (wildly steeping around to Reggae music)

Admin DNO: What has happened to the rating box?
The removal of the public rating box is not a move in the right direction. It is the same backward suggestion coming from such a respectable gentleman as Mr. Alwin Bully who has called for pulling all broadcasts of local talk shows and live radio programmes from the internet. According to him, this would allow Dominicans to deal with there issues internally…..(Nonsense!!! Please do not give us the opportunity to lose our respect for you as we have for people like Dr. Honeychurch).

This is the same non-progressive, backward move of Marpin 2K pulling the Marpin News cast from internet streamlining as was shown on Fred White’s Cakafete.com in the late 90’s.

We must develop with the times and take a page from the business acumen and vision of the young entrepreneurs of Come See TV, who have seen the need to bring our talents, our opinions and visions to the wider global community. We want to advance our society into the 21st century, let’s not go backward into the 19th century.

The removal of the public rating box is a negative and backward and retrogressive move. It makes DNO less interesting and very unattractive. Trust me, as a reader and regular contributor, it is not a good move.

Please reconsider and return the public rating box. It adds value to your webpage. Do not be influenced by the detractors.

    Respectfully
    Roseau Valley
